Another AAA Exclusive and one of the best looking next generation game by far

mcstorm4467d ago

I just hope this game gets pushed as I felt Alan wake did not and came out in the middle of big game releases like rdr from what I can remember. I'm looking forward to this game as I loved Alan wake and feel its one of the underrated games of last gen. Loving the Xbox one lone up at the moment though so many game I want over the next 12 months.

Wake still wound up being a success, I think it sold over 3 million copies over time. If Quantum Break is as good as Alan Wake it will sell, it'll just be a sleeper hit. Seriously a great studio, I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with this and any other games this gen.

I wait abit closer to launch it could be downgraded just like when crytek was bragging about ryse

theWB274467d ago

Where was Ryse downgraded? Pretty much across the board people have said it looks better than it did at E3. The only ones who disagree are the X1 bash team.

FlunkinMonkey4467d ago

Polygon count was lowered from 150,000 to 85,000 and the resolution was downgraded from 1080p to 900p.

Ring any bells?

@FlunkinMonkey

"Polygon count was lowered from 150,000 to 85,000 and the resolution was downgraded from 1080p to 900p."

...and the game STILL looked better at launch than at E3, proving once again that polygon count and resolution do not trump good art direction and design.

Unfortunately, Ryse doesn't play anywhere near as good as it looks.

BallsEye4467d ago

@FlunkinMonkey

They lessen polycount without any noticable difference but they upped other things such as lighting and textures and more objects on screen. It is now a downgrade, it's a tradeoff and it was a good one. BTW ryse was always in 900p. Get your facts straight and stop trolling something you got no clue about.

JokesOnYou4467d ago (Edited 4467d ago )

FAIL, Flunking your example basicly highlights that the game with the highest poly count by far optimized/used those resources elsewhere to produce better visual results for the environment as a whole than the E3 graphics, while still leaving Marius/character detail second to none, ultimately Ryse had the best next gen graphics at launch and you call it "a downgrade", lmfao by your own logic QB is just going to be "downgraded" so it will look much better when it launches...you're right it will.

that's because at E3 Microsoft was showcasing all their games on Windows 7 PC's and tried to hide it but got caught red-handed. lol

If you are talking about the polycount; Ryse wasn't really downgraded. 150k polys is an insane amount, which needed proper optimization and then they came down to something like 85k with very little differences. Shaders and lighting have vastly improved. I'm not sure if anyone really stated that Ryse would be 1080p, besides a twitter post from Phil? (not sure if it was Phil) which later immediately retracted it.

Cutscenes are not real-time though and the framerate also has an occasional drop (barely noticeable) which might be the only things you could target.

Forza is another story, and that is MS just straight up lying with those "In-game" trailers, while those were most likely replay footage which have much better graphics/lighting/AA than the game itself. Game still looks great though and there is much much more to it than just the graphics.

lifeisgamesok4467d ago

And yet Ryse has the best graphics of anything released so far on either system

So far.... There is much more to come! Great for us all! Typical hate disagrees I notice.... These losers who do that are like dark energy, you know its there, but cannot see it...

This game is using a clever prerendered destruction system and looks so good for it. Some next gen trickery in places maybe but it makes for a stunning looking game.

A Late Look: Alan Wake

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "All in all, it’s not hard to see why Alan Wake has received a bit of a cult following (there’s that famous foreshadowing again). It’s a title that blends themes and gameplay, while pushing the limits of storytelling by putting stories within stories and letting you read those stories before you get to that part in… the story. It has flaws, to be sure - the gameplay side can’t quite keep up with the rest of its ambitions - but overall it’s a great game that stands out among its peers and is undeniably… one for the books."
