React Podcast Episode 10: VGX 2013 Awards

The Koalition writes: "Spike TV's VGX 2013 award show just happened tonight. It was so terrible that it was later identified to be the source of all the problems in the world including, but not limited to: famine, disease, natural disasters and any other bad thing ever. We decided to record this podcast to chop it up about the show, the awards and everything that we just witnessed over the last three hours of live show streaming."

This is a great reaction to an awards show about video games.

AngelicIceDiamond4558d ago

Joel was 50 50 to me. I like what he said when Reggie ws on set.

"How do you feel about PS4 and Xbox One?" Lol he was so uncomfortable and he had to answer to them. Reggie is a master of PR even worse than MS.

Reggie was even getting really pissed at Geoff "What more do you want Geoff!?" But Geoff was saying what everyone was thinking. "Reggie was this your only announcement?" I mean come on that's was there big announcement was Donkey Kong? What about Zelda?

Anyway.

But sadly that's where the greatness ends the rest of the show fell flat hard on its face with the talks of constant indies and NO GAMEPLAY OF THE GAMES SHOWCASED. Only Dying light was the only thing demoed.

Btw didn't Geoff say Sony would have a presence at the show? And they might show off some games?

Nope Geoff lied to all of us.

This Host has blown up the video game world. funny stuff everyone is raging on line.

BoNeSaW234558d ago

Joel is a Douche. The show was Horrendous. I'm going to bed.

Jughead34164558d ago

The host was absolutely brutal. He told bad joke after bad joke, then kept repeating the same bad jokes. He also kept interrupting the game developers to tell more bad jokes. He clearly isn't a gamer and had very limited knowledge on gaming. He reminded me of the Monday Night Football failure by having Dennis Miller commentate. The VGX host even at times sounded like the show was beneath him, insulting Geoff Keighley's clothes, the camera man, and the set. Just terrible. And that was just the beginning of the problems.

TheOneWhoIsTornApart4558d ago

Agreed. He was so rude to the guests and was just horrendous in every way possible. You could tell Geoff was incredibly irritated with him. Terrible choice. Why couldn't they have gotten someone from the game industry along with Geoff to host?.

Pozzle4558d ago

I agree. Even though the show itself was pretty underwhelming, that doesn't excuse the host for being so damn rude to the guests and developers. These people took time out of their lives to attend the event. They could at least have been treated like more than some big joke.

Watching VGX made me realize that even though gaming has come a long way, the average non-gamer still sees it as a laughable "nerd" hobby to ridicule and look down on. :(

Jughead34164558d ago

Yea he acted like he was doing the VGX awards a big favor by being the host. He was such a jerk the whole time.

OrangePowerz4558d ago

I was already annoyed by the guy after 3 minutes, it is still beyond me how I managed to watch the full thing and how I could waste 3 hours that I will never get back.

Jughead34164558d ago

You watched the whole thing for same reason many did. Waiting for that awesome game announcement or "World Premier," that never happened. I suffered through this terrible show, waiting for that moment. Never happened. The first announcement was the best to me. The Tomb Raider Definitive Edition for next gen. I never played Tomb Raider because it released the same day as GOW Ascension. So, this was cool to me.

Fallout 4 VGX Announcement Coming On Strong?

Bethesda has yet to confirm Fallout 4 for production despite the huge anticipation and hype shown by the fans. This was the case until yesterday, when a leak image somehow hints that Fallout 4 is in development.

There has been numerous articles based on that same tweet. I refuse to get my hopes up since I do that too much anytime Fallout 4 anything gets rumored/speculated. If anything I'll be shocked if it gets shown at VGA 2014.

nX4217d ago

Shocked is the right word, I wouldn't expect that already. They're certainly not working on last gen platforms and it's still a bit too early for a game like Fallout 4.

Pogmathoin4217d ago

I want this game so bad, but now cynical of anything about it as well now.... Just announce it...

gangsta_red4217d ago

I'm right there with Paytaa. We have been trolled since New Vegas of a Fallout 4. And everytime it never happens. No way am I going to even think that a new fallout is coming. NOPE!

I REFUSE!

*please..please...please be a new Fallout!!*

Roccetarius4217d ago

Probably another hoax like the rest of it was, while Bethesda didn't deny it to use it as free advertisement.

irishyort4217d ago

Definitely wont be an announcement. Bethesda people have even stated there wont be another Fallout anytime soon

Apocalypze4217d ago

Anybody here wants a fallout game for ps vita on the go? Would be amazing!

irishyort4216d ago

@apocalypze dont know why you got the disagrees. I'd frikken love it!

I love Borderlands 2 for my Vita. Cant stop playing it. Fallout on Vita would ruin my free time but i dont care

Basement Dwellers: The gaming community's self-image

A creature of basement-banished isolation, their faces a contorted cross between Jon Heder and two kilos of silly putty, with skin the colour and texture of a peeled achacha. That is what most people will have you believe is an apt description of the average gamer – a being so out of touch with reality that their only escape from the terrors of social interaction is to take refuge in the sweet embrace of a virtual space. Though even more hand-clammily terrifying is the gaming community’s absolute lack of interest in a much needed reconstruction of our self-image.
