Littl hard to read it but worth it.

*No XP ranking system*

I gotta disagree with you on this one.I love that they took it out and replaced it with challenges.

Aery4576d ago

This game is really underrated.
KZS has an awesome multiplayer and this alone worth (at least) a 9.

Bigpappy4576d ago

A 9 for half the game? That doesn't sound logical at all. If was sold as 2 parts.

NewMonday4576d ago

@Bigpappy

he means the MP makes the game worth a 9, from me BF3 had crap campaign that I couldn't play for more than an hour but the game is still a 9 because I want it for MP.

a game like Bioshock Infinite has a tack-on MP but the game is still a 10 for me.

Boody-Bandit4576d ago (Edited 4576d ago )

"A 9 for half the game?"

So are you going to feel the same if TitanFall is rated a 9 or higher? It's online only.

Of course not because your thinking is it's all in how it's packaged. Okay than how about Forza 5? Some sites rated it a 9 or higher. It's literally has less than half the content Forza 4 did. So in actuality it's literally half a game.

BP
Do you even have a PS4 and Killzone Shadow Fall?

On topic:
Killzone is one of my favorite launch games so far. It was even better than I thought it was going to be. The online runs flawlessly and is a blast to play. I just wish I didn't purchase so many games at launch because I'm not giving this game enough attention online.

I still have a few games I have barely touched and I just picked up GT6! Too many games way too little time.

FunAndGun4576d ago

@Bigpappy

Well, R* got perfect scores for GTA5 and apparently GOTY and they released half a game while the other half was broken well after release.

Dead_Cell4576d ago

How can you even possibly say GTA V is only half a game? Get a fucking grip.

FunAndGun4576d ago

@Dead_Cell

Single player is one half, and Multiplayer is the other half.

Is that too hard to understand?

Every single other game under the sun gets graded on both halves. GTA5 gets perfect scores while the other half was not even released or playable. Once it did release, it was broken.

Just because it is R* and GTA they get special treatment.

BullyMangler4577d ago (Edited 4577d ago )

nope . anything to make this game sound like it was good . it failed as a launch exclusive along with Knack etc etc,

the multiplayer in this game is higher quality than the campaign < fact

metacritic already has this games worst and its best engraved into stone

This game is more like 2.5/5 = 7.5 outta 10 the A.I. is bad lol 4/5 < exposed

OverPaperSkies4576d ago

Why does he have to play it to see the game is lacking on every level?

Silly logic.

BelkingOfSony4576d ago

bullymangler is trolling, hes a nintendo fanboy who trolls on sony articles on n4g, which explains the one bubble and all the disagrees.

I_am_Batman4576d ago (Edited 4576d ago )

"This game is more like 2.5/5 = 7.5 outta 10 the A.I. is bad lol 4/5 < exposed"

What?

BelkingOfSony4576d ago

'the AI is bad'

hahaha no. the AI is NOT bad, killzone has probably one of the best AI compared to any other FPS because it is hard to beat, especially on veteran mode. if you think the AI is 'bad', then you must be sh*t at killzone.

Rockstar4576d ago

I am very surprised you have 1 bubble with drivel like that!

r214576d ago

bullymangler, still keeping up the fanboyism by writing rambling incoherent nonsense in comments.

Stsonic4576d ago (Edited 4576d ago )

This is the blade runner of games. It will go down as a cult classic.

People have issues with the campaign as it's much harder than your average fps so the story drags and drags for them, when in actual fact the story on it's own is great. I constantly keep hearing how it takes people days to get past the first level where you get the ammo as their are no check points. Do yourself a favour, put it on easy as normal is more like very hard in most games.

smokeyjoekenobi4576d ago

For me the first level's biggest issue is the layout, if you happen to find yourself at ground level and not on a raised platform when enemies suddenly spawn (or you simply can't see them) You find yourself in a certain death situation and even when you are on one of the raised platforms you can still be surprised by unseen enemies. For me the difficulty wasn't the issue, but the enemy spawning and the level design/layout, it made it a grind, a chore, not entertaining/enjoyable.

Then you have the zero-gravity bit, which was intriguing at first, but then the developer has the player moving fuel rods from one place to another, I can't see anyone finding this experience fun!?

The game doesn't seem to kick up a notch until the 4th chapter and it's more or less steady from there, but it hardly goes beyond okay, or average and every now and then the developer's poor handle on level design/layout rears it's ugly head and you end up relying on the barely visible, rarely helpful objective marker.

Later on the story seems to tantalisingly promise the player a moral choice between fighting for the Vektans/ISA or the helghast (after escaping the prison), but after a cutscene this is scuppered in favour of more of the same. In fact both in story and gameplay the developer seems to be making some bold and exciting choices, which don't really come about and instead we have a who's who of action/adventure FPS staples.

In fact the only thing they seemed to get absolutely right were the truly gorgeous vistas and I must say the primary weapon is a lot of fun. In summary it's a beautiful but hopelessly average game.

"Blade Runner of games"? Blade Runner failed to make a mark on the box office, but had plenty of positive reviews you might say Killzone Shadow Fall's problem is the opposite.

xXxSeTTriPxXx4576d ago

You found the words I failed to express about the single player.I thought the pacing of this game was one of its strong points.

The game is good, not great but good.

Tyre4576d ago (Edited 4576d ago )

@Stsonic Couldn't agree with you more, i'm loving it! Best Killzone to date, love the freedom & open levels. Lot's of replay. Different approaches to the levels. I see a lot of criticism to the game like people had with Crysis I see a lot of influence by Crysis here, i guess people just want to be guided all the time without room for experimentation. Anyways great game feels fresh and certainly does a lot different than most shooters! Better than CoD/Battlefield.

KakashiHotake4576d ago

I think a lot of reviewers went extra hard on Kill Zone because of the high expectations. After Drive Club and Watch Dogs got delayed, KZ was the only real showcase game left, everything else was all ports and indies and well..Knack if you want to count that. I'm willing to bet once Sony starts to get some of the better games next year and more people have PS4's, KillZone is one of those games they'll buy later down the line and really enjoy it.

15 Last-Gen Games That Still Compete with Current-Gen Graphics

GB: "Say what you will about the state of the industry, but even as games evolve, their graphics remain a key aspect. Even some of the biggest flops this year sport some gorgeous visuals, as publishers and developers push the boundaries of what’s possible, pouring years of time and money into their work."

Quantum Break and Ryse are two that I was really surprised did not get an FPS boost option when played on the Series X|S. when i started playing both on the XBO, I thought they are both good, but after playing them also on my steam deck (in 60fps) I just cant go back and play the base games on XB. They really benefit from that faster frame rate.

Driveclub is another i wished had a HFR mode on PS5.

MatrixxGT597d ago

Most games this gen are the exact same except now we get faster loading through SSD and a res and fps bump. Graphically not much has improved, hell most last gen games are being relabeled and resold as “remastered” with the aforementioned updates.
I haven’t seen or played anything on either platform that couldn’t be run on last gen. Guess the law of diminishing returns is really showing itself these days.

127maXimus596d ago

Most games from 20 years ago are basically the same as today, with resolution and fps upgrades. The AI is still just as braindead as it always has been, worlds are full of static, boring characters that do the same thing over and over.

Demetrius596d ago

Smh another reason why graphics haven't improved that much is because most devs too caught up on cross gen. Ps4 was/still a dope console but time has moved on we're halfway close to a ps6 reveal and devs still will be making games on last gen in 2025. Then theres Microsoft purposely got the Xbox series s that causes more devs to try to pull strings as much as they can smh. It's a mixed bag of stuff, the only ones I see pushing hardware is sonys studios and even some indie games look better

Why Guerrilla Games Shouldn't Abandon the Killzone Series

Hugely disappointingly, it seems that Guerrilla Games, developers of the Killzone and Horizon series, may be done with Killzone for good.

1 was fine, overhyped as a " halo" killer
2 was a graphical beast at the time, and felt heavy
3 was good a refinement of 2 but not much else. weird audio issues environment were to quiet
shadow fall was pretty but bland

OtterX604d ago (Edited 604d ago )

Shadowfall had great Multiplayer though. Too bad the campaign was meh at best. It did have the occasional great moment sprinkled in.

TheNamelessOne604d ago (Edited 604d ago )

I played through 2/3 multiple times. I played through the original once, but it felt pretty lukewarm for me. I couldn't be bothered to beat Shadow Fall. I got a couple hours in and just went "I'm done". Never touched it again. It was awesome on the tech side, being a launch title, but it didn't even match up to the first game when it came to actually having fun playing it.

Rude-ro604d ago

3 in 3d was an amazing experience to be had.
Although not many experienced it as intended for good reasons.

just_looken604d ago

You forgot the ai advancements on the playstation 2 killzone one you could have a full team of bots doing everything even playing the objective that was a big thing.

In killzone 2 they always flanked you and when available used the high ground.

Playing killzone 2 no hud 5.1 audio was/is awesome

MDTunkown604d ago

They should finish Horizon story first

darthv72604d ago

I dont mind if someone else takes up the mantle for the KZ franchise. We are several years removed from the first game. It certainly could use a remake to gauge interest in the rest of the series. I know it has its fans... Im thinking of how a proper reboot can rekindle that old dormant flame and bring in a new generation of fans in the process.

just_looken604d ago

You forgot killzone mercenaries on the ps vita but it was the worst selling sony game for awhile there.

Yui_Suzumiya603d ago

Yeah, a remake would be pretty awesome

anast604d ago

They should let it go or sell it. No use spending millions on this project.

LucasRuinedChildhood604d ago

Would like a new IP before Horizon 3. Just because games take so long to make these days.

Killzone After a Decade in Hibernation

It's been 10 years since Killzone: Shadow Fall arrived for PlayStation 4 early adopters, and there's no sign of another sequel.

Obscure_Observer947d ago

Sadly it was dumped by Guerrilla to focus on Horizon games only. Mainline, VR and Multiplayer.

Vengeance1138947d ago

lmao sadly? Are you pretending to have actually played the series lol Sorry bud, no Killzone on Xbox.

Cacabunga946d ago

With the downfall of COD and BF, Killzone def. has a chance to make a groundbreaking comeback

946d ago
Notellin946d ago (Edited 946d ago )

What a low-functioning reply here typical of the fanboy N4G community.

Rimeskeem947d ago

“Dumped”

I think it’s called moving on.

Barlos946d ago (Edited 946d ago )

They brought out 4 main games and 2 spin offs: one on PSP and one on Vita. That's a decent run for any series. I also understand that Shadow Fall wasn't a success commercially despite it coming out at PS4 launch, and as a big Killzone fan even I couldn't get into it, so I think Sony/Guerrilla could see it was time to move on.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love another Killzone game in the vein of KZ2 but it's just not happening. Hell, I'd even take a remake or remaster of the first 3 games.

I'd hardly say it was "dumped" though, it spanned 3 console generations and 2 handheld generations.

1Victor946d ago

@obscured:”Sadly it was dumped by Guerrilla to focus on Horizon games only. Mainline, VR and Multiplayer”

Happily it was dumped by Guerrilla to focus on Horizon games only. Mainline, VR and Multiplayer( edited to reflect the writer true feelings and allegiance)
Kill zone was a FPS far ahead of its glitched competitors with nauseating bad camera angles, 10 years old screaming curses like a drunk sailor and bot aiming assist.

ChasterMies946d ago

“Sadly”?

The Horizon games were among the best games of all time. Killzone Shadowfail wasn’t.

Shane Kim946d ago

True, but damn the memories of KZ2 multiplayer. Still no MP as fun as that to this date.

Mr_cheese946d ago

Dumped and shelved are two different things

Tacoboto946d ago

And Sony as a whole dumped the FPS genre so they wouldn't have products competing with COD and (until purchase) Destiny.

GoodGuy09947d ago

I loved the KZ2+3 campaigns and MP in 2. There could be so much more done with the franchise. Horizon although good, I wish they'd go back to this wonderful IP. Take a break from Horizon please.

Flawlessmic946d ago

Agreed dude, I would absolutely love a reboot of the series, one can only hope that either resistance or killzone makes a return.

Have nothing but great memories, especially of the first 3 games, but all 4 were show stoppers graphically.

blackbeld946d ago

To making it a successful reboot they have to change that buttons layout! Make it playable like the cod button layout. Otherwise I’ll skipping it again.

Rynxie946d ago

And that's the reason why many fps games failed. Instead of being original and catering to it's fans, they tried to make it like cod. No, kz doesn't need cod button layout. It needs to be like it was on kz2 or balanced liked kz3.

Lightning77947d ago

I think Kill Zone would do great in Sony's LS push. As well as MAG reboot and bring back Resistance into LS.

Sharky231946d ago

@Lightning77

I think WarHawk would have been a great Live service game.

thorstein947d ago

Killzone games were so polished. The gameplay was just simple joy. MP was one of the best experiences.

I remember KZ3, just staring at how awesome they animated the water and then getting wasted because of it.

P_Bomb947d ago

It’s been a decade? Now I’m sad.

LiViNgLeGaCY946d ago

I hear ya bud. We're due for a revival.
