Uh, who ever said it wouldn't? Of course PC games will ALWAYS look better than their console counterparts, depending on what kind of hardware you've got in there. Barring bad console-to-PC ports of course.

_QQ_4562d ago

I think its just confirmation that the devs will add features not possible on the consoles. Not every third party game looks better on pc other than resolution and framerate. Although most important ones do.

cleft54562d ago

In other news the sun will rise tomorrow. If I pay what PC gamers pay for their setup, every game that comes out on consoles and PC damn well better look the best on PC. With that said, the next-gen version of the game is still going to be very visually pleasing.

DomceM4562d ago

@cleft5

you do pay what we pay if not more. We dont pay for online nor $10 royalty fees to ms and sony.

Why dont you go ahead and calculate how much money your $400 ps4 will end up costing after 8 years and 30-60 games bought?

Diff is PC gamers put that money upfront right into the hardware. So its not paying more, its paying smart (for hardware rather than useless fees).

TheLeapist4562d ago (Edited 4562d ago )

@DomceM
As one that has a gaming rig and upgrades it religiously, it bothers me when my fellow PC gamers try to use this justification. You have to upgrade your PC more often than once every 8 years if you want to be able to run the latest games on the highest settings. Not to mention even if that wasn't the case paying 600-800 over 8 years is a whole lot easier than paying that right up front. I love my pc and I love pc gaming but that doesn't mean I'm going to pretend like I'm not paying for my beloved hobby. All that said I've never regretted a dime I've spent on my rig.

hiredhelp4562d ago

@TheLeapist
With all due respect I myself build my own rigs normally upgrade once every 3-4 years depending if i want to not need too.
That said gaming on PC can pay for parts Look i went back to my PC Chair about just over 2 year ago i started a steam account yes games are cheaper.
My rig cost me around £800 £900 my own choice parts i installed now after 2 years with steam my account worth nearly 2k mainly due to sales like 50%-75% deals off. It all ads up.

TheLeapist4562d ago

I respect where you're coming from but at this point when you start to include things like that you get into muddy Waters. PS+ gives sales of a similar level. Brand new games rarely go on sale on steam and when they do it's not going to be anywhere near that high. Old games go on sale at retailers too. Not to mention being able to sell your games when you're done with them when you own a hard copy. So it's not anywhere near as cut and dry as you try to make it seem there.

I guess what bothers me most is their seeming need to justify their computer investment in other ways beyond the fact that it's just awesome owning a monster of a pc. Comes across as insecure to me. Just be happy knowing you have the best. There's no need to justify it to anyone else. I could be way off the mark, just my opinion though.

ShinMaster4562d ago

PC fans need highly obvious and redundant statements like these to comfort them and reassure them that their investment is justified.

Yeah...thanks for the obvious. I want to know if all the rumors about the chaos r correct. What r the odds of a delay? And yeah, all games look better if u can run ultra settings. But the reason that software isn't built for high end gaming pcs is that not too many ppl have them. Assuming its gonna b a good looking game...it will look fantastic on ps4.

MrCrimson4562d ago

And the sky is blue and the grass is green!

Edsword4562d ago

The title should be, Theif will look better on some PCs than PS4 and Xbox One. I have a laptop with a Nvidia 565M. It will not look better than on PS4.

DoctorJones4562d ago

It will look better on mine, sucks for you I guess.

Edsword4562d ago (Edited 4562d ago )

No it really doesn't suck for me. I could buy a new PC today if I really wanted to, but I don't. If I did not have the option to buy a PC, then it could possibly suck for me. I chose to buy a PS4 because it will still be great for multi-platform games and will have exclusive titles. You either are a child or extremely naive to believe that everyone cares about having the best graphics you can get. If I built a $6000 gaming rig I would not get on here just to tell people with $1000 rigs that it sucks for them because I can run the game at 4k and 120 fps and they can't. I have a family and I don't spend my entire life gaming. My economic commitment to gaming reflects that.

DoctorJones4562d ago

No need to get out of your pram over it. You're the one talking about how it won't look great on your crappy laptop, like anyone really cares. So I wanted to point out that, as the title says, it will look better on a gaming pc, such as mine.

Your comment was pretty pointless, really. The same old pointless comment I see in any article involving pcs and consoles 'It won't look better on all pcs!'. It won't take a particularly powerful pc to make it look better than on the ps4.

And I didn't need to pay $6000 for it either, a ridiculous amount to even talk about.

And I have a family too and don't spend my entire life gaming either, but yet again, who cares? Just another pointless thing to bring up.

kwyjibo4562d ago

It used to be that next-gen machines would leap frog PCs and then get overtaken later on. It's why consoles were sold at a loss.

Remember when the PS3 came out and you had all this "power of the Cell!", "supercomputer on a chip!" bullshit?

Not happening now. Now it's all, "of course the PC is better", even from the Sony diehards.

webeblazing4562d ago

Yea you can say PCs are so call a gen ahead of next gen consoles. Imagine how big the gap gonna be next year

Cuzzo634562d ago

Dumbest article ever. Its suppose to right? Smh at the pc power rangers.

frostypants4562d ago

Nope. Untrue. It will look better on SOME PCs. For the 20,758th time, people need to stop pretending that PCs are a common platform.

Bladesfist4561d ago

I don't get this argument. It will look better on my PC, why should I care about how it looks on someone else's PC. The article is correct. It will look better on PC. It does not say it will look better on all PCs.

Mystogan4562d ago

Yeah xD there is no arguing this. Only idiots argue against facts.

Clunkyd4562d ago

PC gamers seem so insecure

LonChaneyTV4562d ago

pretty much the only reason to get into the consoles are for the exclusives. I'm just getting by perfectly fine off of my PC for everything else.

Backwards support, Steam community, Indie MMOs, and discounted games are a major plus to PC gaming.

gametipcenter4562d ago

Not really surprised by this since gaming PC's have far less hardware limitation, however will a $400 or $500 gaming PC be able to pull off the same graphics as a PS4 or Xbox One? Some high end graphics cards alone can cost more than the two next gen consoles combined.

CrowbaitBob4562d ago

If Sony and Microsoft weren't investing in the long term of people buying software and services specific to their respective hardware you wouldn't be getting the PS4 and Xbone at $400 and $500. It's a completely different business model than you see with a GPU manufacturer.

gametipcenter4562d ago

Ok I see your point there.

Mr Tretton4562d ago (Edited 4562d ago )

You don't need a high end GPU to out do PS4/X1. A PC is a PC, there's more to it's cost overall because it does more and is more powerful in every way. Why would anyone buy a PC just for gaming? If all you do is play games then sure, stick to a console.

gametipcenter4562d ago

"Why would anyone buy a PC just for gaming?"

That's kind of a silly question. Why do you think Alienware ever came into existence? Some people are willing to spend a lot of money on gaming PC's, and will argue their quality over consoles until their last breath.

I'm surprised you haven't received a tirade of backlash from PC fans on that one, lol.

Mr Tretton4562d ago

@gametipcenter, I wasn't asking a question-question, I was making a statement. Why the hell would you only use a PC for gaming.(?) It's a PC. It does everything. A decent PC (sub 1K) is more than worth it's cost. Period. Who cares about severely limited consoles being cheaper in that case, other than brainwashed fanboys, the young, the stupid and the poor? (which is a lot of people) It's like bragging about an economy car to a sports car owner.

Alienware exists because stupid consumers exist. There is no logical reason to purchase Alienware.

Again, the high end graphics cards with the double console cost are unnecessary. You started the argument in typical fashion, which begins with unnecessary PC expenses. The rich bitches that soup up a PC just because they can, are just that. They should not be used as a base argument for PC costs and value.

tee_bag2424561d ago (Edited 4561d ago )

Mr Tretton. As you put it you posted a "question question " - the correct term is 'rhetorical question'. You must be feeling pretty stupid yourself being corrected by a 'stupid Alienware owner' as you put it. Lol
Perhaps if you focused harder at school you might have been in a position to be a 'stupid alienware owner' too. I guarantee my m18x would spank your toy system like a red headed step child and it's a laptop for Pete's sake.
Not everyone wants a ugly school boy ghetto rig next to their TV. More to the point, every has their own reasons for choosing their setup - console or PC. Be more respectful of that!

Linwelin4562d ago

Yes, yes it could, if you buy smart.

KrisButtar4562d ago

Hmm I wonder who said PC wouldn't look better than consoles?

They seem to stress the point that PC is better in the article. All I have to say is, that its common sense that games will look better on PC.

TheEnigma3134562d ago

Ummmmm shouldn't it look better on PC? Why even start a flame war over this?

Studio-YaMi4562d ago (Edited 4562d ago )

Well,if you had a choice, wouldn't you yourself want to see your project(in this case Thief game) reach full potential in all it's glory?

I would.

Though saying "will look better on PC" is just stretching it,the game will look better with a capable gaming PC unless you don't mind sacrificing the resolution,frame-rate or AA/low shadows with a moderate one.

In the end, your PS4/XboxOne experience won't differ from another PS4/XboxOne owners experience, but the PC experience is all about the numbers.

Edit:
Uhhh I thought you said "SHOULD IT look better on PC" & you actually wrote "shouldn't",sorr y for the rant!

Thief - Taken From Us Too Soon

The Thief game series has had many ups-and-downs, and 2014's reboot showed a great deal of promise nearly a decade ago.

Notellin1039d ago

This would be such a great franchise to reboot. A darker game than Dishonored, but focused around stealth and large scale heists from an oppressive monarchy.

That's probably my dream game. I love immersive sims and stealth!

Noskypeno1039d ago

People say they hate forced stealth sections in games. But a game focused on stealth with good mechanics and level design feels refreshing from the guns blazing games which I also enjoy. I really enjoyed playing Splinter cell, a game that not many try to mimic today. Not too many games let you shoot lights out, or throw cans or bottles to distract guards. Sure there are games with stealth options like the new Wolfenstein but it doesn't feel necessary to play it that way. Hitman might be the only game that has that feeling, except for that Korean game that may or may not ever come out.

isarai1038d ago

You should try the Sniper Elite games, so good, especially with coop

Notellin1038d ago

Same here. I'm glad there are some other people who enjoy these types of games!

@isarai I tried Sniper Elite 5 and ended up really enjoying that one. Went back and played 4 as well!.

ModsDoBetter1039d ago (Edited 1039d ago )

The last one was a trainwreck and has been in the bargain bin since just after launch. If they bring it back, they need a massive change in direction.

Inverno1039d ago

only direction they should take is putting it in reverse and going back to what the originals did. I couldn't finish this game, and I made a choice to never play it again. I watched a video about the og Thief and Deus Ex games and the current AAA standard will forever hold back these games. These 2 games alone had already solved so many problems with modern gaming that I don't think they'll get a chance at something great unless they're made by a dev that actually give a damn.

monkey6021039d ago

Jesus the last installment sells at about 2 euro and even that is over paying for it. Absolutely diabolical game

SimpleSlave1039d ago

Ups and Down? More like Up, UP, Pot Hole, Free Fall into the Abyss...

Rutaprkl1038d ago

Thief Deadly Shadows remaster would be awesome.
