The Blu-Ray high definition DVD technology may have consigned rival HD DVD to oblivion, but it has a long battle for market dominance over the older standard definition technology according to ABI Research.
The market research firm estimates that in 2008 Sony PS3 game consoles will account for 85 percent of Blu-Ray shipments and does not expect the installed base of Blu-Ray drives in consumer electronics and PCs to exceed those in PS3s until 2013.
"Blu-Ray player prices remain high, and supplies are limited," says ABI Research principal analyst Steve Wilson. "This is good for the market because most current players do not support all the functions that studios place on the discs. Lacking support for – or upgradability to – BD Live! or Bonus View (picture in picture), consumers cannot utilise all the available options. Manufacturers would rather sell more fully-featured models."

A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.

God, no wonder no one is buying your delaystation 3rd...
HA HA HA HA!
Well only another 8 millions to catch up on then :)
Where the heck do you get 5 million? at xmas 07 the sales stood at xbox360- 17.9 million
PS3 - 10.1 million
Last week microsoft reported sales of 19 million and by your calculations the ps3 has sold 1 million more units this year, so simple maths will tell you they have sold 2.1 million to date this year so if you add 2.1 million onto 10.1 million you get 12.2 million. 19 Million less 12.2 million equals.........6.8 million so we both were wrong lol
I don't know about everyone else, but I still do buy some blu-ray movies to play on my PS3 while awaiting the arrival of MGS4.
I must say, if not for the PS3, I would not be bothered with Blu-ray right now. With a PS3 on hand, and an HDTV, you have to at least give it a try. I've only bought a handful of movies, and that's mostly because I had extra cash to burn or happened upon a great deal on Amazon. I'll still buy dvds most of the time, but it doesn't make sense for me not to use the blu-ray ability in my PS3. I didn't really need it, but its nice to have the option anyway. And I'm damn happy that it can be updated to keep up with new features.
