Killer Instinct Out of Sync?

OXCGN: If this is real, then it is absolutely insane and Double Helix or Microsoft need to speak up, as to what the hell is going on. Calvin Morrow recently uploaded a video on Youtube which showcases the same battle between two different character, which for the majority of the match appears out of sync.

If you watch the video then you’ll see the same moves being registered but happening at the different times.

The Xbone has clearly ripped a hole in the space time continuum and Xbox live is now a portal to the multi-verse. Well played Microsoft, well played/

Gazondaily4554d ago

This is B.S.

I have played over 300 matches of Killer Instinct and let me tell you, the game runs near FLAWLESSLY online. I have NEVER played a beat em up online with what appears to be 0 lag. And I mean none whatsoever. In those 300 or so matches, I came across 1, maybe 2 matches where the connection was a bit choppy.

MrSwankSinatra4554d ago

The point of this video obviously flew right over your head

Gazondaily4554d ago (Edited 4554d ago )

I'll admit...I read the article but didn't watch the video -_-. At work so apologies if I missed it.

Okay watched it and that seems VERY odd. I have had loads of matches were I'm talking to the opponent and we are talkign in real time about the moves we just pulled..e.g "nice combo breaker", nice manual etc etc.

DCfan4554d ago

You obviously never played TTT2.
The net code on that game is what i would call "Flawless"

creatchee4554d ago

This video is fake and possibly a troll attempt. The guy on top was watching his fight replay where DSP's video was from his capture. When you watch a fight replay, the game will bounce you back to the menu after the clip is done playing. The guy on top simply pressed the pause button (you can very clearly tell this because when you pause during a shadow move, the shadow effects ripple, even though there is no motion on screen).

My guess is that this is Phil trolling us with a friend and that these are two different matches.

Looks like some really bad desync. You see the same thing happen on games like Path of Exile, etc. As long as this isn't a widespread issue than it's not the end of the world, but at the same time stuff like this will kill the online competitive scene for Killer Instincts. Playing a fighting game online is already a tricky proposition in how serious you take those matches, but something like this is completely next level with the issue it represents.

It's really odd to see people comment without watching the video. Assuming "out of sync" to mean the same thing as "lag".

Anyway, this looks like the game plays for you (poorly) when your connection is bad. Like, instead of the game dropping you for having a bad connection it just plays your match for you, on your opponents end, and vice versa.
So when a connection to the server dips you're both officially playing against AI for the remainder of the match.

Sounds like a terrible idea but a nice way to trick people in to thinking they're playing on a flawless, lag-free service.

People (with poor internet connections) should test this out if they think it's fake.
I'm pretty curious if any other games do this sort of thing.

muffinbutton4554d ago

There's a difference between a fighting game and a beat em up. A beat em up is like final fight or streets of rage type of game. Thats like calling castle crashers a fighting game.

Septic, There are plenty of people that think they are gods at Call of duty and that the game is just lag free. They are the lucky ones that don't get lag compensated.

Just because you are having an easy time on KI doesnt mean your oponent wasnt fighting some sort of handicap the whole time.

just sayin.

Its there way of lag compensation both players were dropped at a certain point and awarded the win instead of just stopping the match. They have a thread on there website you can read about it .

Why is this guy asking all these questions to us random people at the end? how would we know. Ask microsoft you knob.

TIER1xWOLFPACKx4554d ago (Edited 4554d ago )

It's a YouTube video you can comment on them you know maybe he wants to know if anyone else has had these problems or any of games are having this problem etc

XxGOWxX4553d ago

He was directly asking us why certain things are happening like as if we work for microsoft.

Is this going to happen on other xbox games? -Fear mongering

Are they going to fix/path this? -direct question to the Devs

The only thing related to watchers is when he asked if this has happened before in games or to anyone else. To keep the video on point and making it not seem fake he should have just stuck to the facts, has anyone else experienced this? and i hope its an isolated issue, if not they need to patch it etc. But this is how youtube videos are now. they ask heaps of questions implying doom to get people to watch them to see what theyre on about.

RocknRolla4554d ago

He only asked one question: "If however it is a problem with the game or the net-coding what does that say about Microsoft’s cloud technology which is said to drastically reduce waiting periods in finding online matches or even enhancing game experiences?"

That to me is his opening to create discussion among us, to share our thoughts and perhaps come up with our own weird and wacky answers until we find out if this is a problem or not.

LiQuiZoN4554d ago (Edited 4554d ago )

Xbone...sigh...

Between Microsoft an EA I'm not sure who has the worst quality control.

Killer Instinct: The Most Underrated Fighting Video Game in History

Killer Instinct is like the forgotten cousin at the fighting game family reunion.

yeah they were such good and fun games but they never really reached the mainstream audience. Killer Instinct was widely known and respected.

Cacabunga397d ago

Killer instinct is great, especially on snes but it’s not the most underrated fighter.. for me it’s Power Stone. So much potential in this series

Jawsh666397d ago

Bloody Roar was a game that had a sick concept but wasn’t made the best. I’d say Killer Instinct was the opposite of that, it was well made but the roster of characters were so similar to every other fighting game in that era that it ended up feeling like more of the same. I could be wrong that’s just how I remember it at the time and I played a ton of KI on SNES because it was one of the first games I owned.

PRIMORDUS397d ago

I loved this game in the arcade, my main was Jago, Ultra Combo!!! https://www.youtube.com/wat...

DivineHand125396d ago

That combo was way overkill 😂

PRIMORDUS396d ago

I know haha, I loved Jago.

Bathyj397d ago

You're kidding?
It enjoyed probably more success than it deserved.
Unlike Tobal 2

MeteorPanda397d ago

Tobal 2 was awesome. Sold really well cause art similarity to dragon ball

jjb1981397d ago

I remember trying my hardest to learn that "Ultra... Ultra.... Ultra...." finish. Such a great fighting game.

Popsicle397d ago (Edited 397d ago )

I can tell you definitely got some SNES time in. The slight differences in the ports due to hardware constraints were interesting. For example, the arcade version was Ultraaaa Coooommboooooooo! versus Ultra….Ultra….Ultra on the SNES.

Though SNES overachieved as a port for as demanding as a game KI was.The arcade version was one of the first cabinets with a dedicated hard drive and the SNES version was 32 megabyte cartridge which was huge for that system at the time.

jjb1981396d ago

Yeah, for sure. My local childhood arcade was always packed and it was hard to get a game in but once the SNES version came out, I was hooked. I can still feel the click of the power button.

Barlos906d ago

I'll have to get this! Been a big fan of KI since the very first one.

Petebloodyonion906d ago (Edited 906d ago )

I love KI (still play the old arcade version) but feel like the Xbox version is like a big intimidating chessboard with no easy way to instruct you to play chess.
The game is so deep in terms of little things to do that it makes Smash Bros melee look like a casual experience.
Honestly, doing a combo Breaker is punish/reward by itself but hey you can add a counterbreaker.
Here's what you also need to know
Breaking Shadow-linker
Instincts
Shadow counter
Auto double,
linker, manual
ender
etc,

There isn't going to be any chance of this being played at tournaments unless it appears on all platforms like all fighting games.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH910d ago

SF5 didn’t appear on all consoles and was still played at Tournaments. I’ve seen KI tournaments recently so I don’t think your opinion is accurate.
