GameSpy: Prototype Preview

GameSpy writes: "Radical's Prototype is one of those titles that we've been following closely since our first glimpse last summer. Its quirky mix of sandbox gameplay and camouflage stealth in the vein of "The Thing" has made for some pretty jaw-dropping moments. Our brief glimpse at the game in action during Sierra's recent media event seemed to be less of a huge unveiling and more of an update on how it's coming along. Unfortunately, we still haven't been able to play it for ourselves to find out if all of its bells and whistles can deliver a compelling gameplay experience, and that worries us a little.

In Prototype you take on the role of Alex Mercer, a young man who wakes up with no memory and a nasty virus that causes him to mutate in a variety of ways. One of them is the ability to consume people and take on their form. Alex must face off against the zombie-like inhabitants of a chunk of Manhattan that's been ravaged by the same virus, with a cabal of creatures stalking him around the Big Apple. Besides the infected, Alex must also battle an overzealous military hell-bent on suppressing both him and the zombies. All in a day's work, right?"

Spiffy:
-The idea of Risk in a biologically war-torn Manhattan sounds intriguing

Iffy:
-No hands-on is getting worrisome
-Non-combat zones don't seem too lively

Ranking The Coldest, Most Ruthless Protagonists In Gaming

Not all video game protagonists are sweet, jolly, or wholesome. Folks like Agent 47 are cold, ruthless, and reserved and it shows.

I'd like to believe Joel's situation is more about turning into a calloused survivor in a cold-hard world who may have made selfish decisions. Not inherently ruthless.

Ah, fond memories of strangling all the people in their hotel rooms in Hitman 1

6 Fun Games Where You Actually Play As The Bad Guy

While the mainstream media always sees things turning in favor of the hero, here are 6 games that own being a bad guy.

Pretty much all of these games listed are based around a morality system you don't have to be bad and you don't have to be good.

It seems to have left out some real amazing games like red dead redemption 1/2,ass effect and true crime la/ny

Armored Core VI?

Ok, I'm really missing something here. Just beat chapter 3 earlier this evening, unlocked A-rank Arena fights. I'm not seeing or sensing any branching paths or morality system and I've done every side mission and arena fight available to me up to that fight.

Is something big coming soon to branch the story?

No mention of Grand Theft Auto? Saints Row (original trilogy), Manhunt? Also The Suffering (depending on the ending you get).

Trevor in GTA 6 is a sadist and psychopath who dabbles in cannibalism. Should be top of the list. These game “news” sites should hire people that know games.
