While a handful of Xbox One owners have suffered from that wobbly gear problem, Microsoft has been good enough to be quite prompt with replacements. It’s also been offering up a free game to apologise for the gaff. However, one Kitguru reader who got his replaced through retailer GAME, has hit a brick wall: according to Microsoft, it’s an invalid replacement meaning he’s not due a free game.

Square Enix launches Final Fantasy X 25th anniversary site, revealing new Nomura art, books, music releases, and merchandise.
Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

LucasArts gave Jango Fett his own game in 2002, and it pulled Star Wars into a much dirtier, rougher, and more interesting corner of the galaxy.

Dear team,
Xbox has always been different.
We started with a simple idea. Games should bring people together through shared experiences. That led to the first Xbox in 2001, Xbox Live in 2002, and new ways to connect, from friends lists and achievements to parties and play across devices. Today, Xbox reaches over 500 million players around the world, with some of the most important franchises in entertainment.
If they go back to exclusive games it at least shows that they are finally getting it. They would be turning down immediate money for something that will potentially workout in the long term.
Only issue is they've already opened Pandora's box. A lot of their base has moved to PC or jumped to PS. So will be a long road to get back on track.
We have been saying this from day one exclusives are a must if you are going to be selling hardware look at Nintendo and Sony before Jim Ryan. That's the proven formula. You had some that were deluded and blinded by loyalty accepting that multiplat was the future and that MS was merely getting ahead of where the industry was headed, but at least they can finally see the light and agree with what everyone has been saying for a decade+
Despite all of that, it's clear that Microsoft's Xbox division is broken beyond repair.
I realize that this isn't going to be a popular statement, but I can understand from a business view point you need to go through certain steps simply to make sure people don't "game" the system.
Fair enough
"Microsoft has been good enough to be quite prompt with replacements" Take it from somebody who has a broken Xbox One and who has spoken to 3 people at Microsoft its not prompt at all. I have been waiting since Monday and my order is still set as "Service order in progress" they haven't sent out replacements yet. Great when you got a console which does not work for a week... digital games it is then... oh and they don't give you the game until the whole thing has been sorted. Ridiculous.
@ Phoenix76: What 180? It has been clearly stated that for people with a disk drive problem that use the Advance Exchange system they will get a free game.
While I feel for the guy as he had one of the few bad consoles he got it replaced right away at the place he purchased it at.
The reason they are giving away a free game is to make up for the couple of days they have to wait for their replacement to arrive. He did not have to wait, he got a replacement console right away.
@cl1983 While your statement may not be popular it is the truth.
"A bit of a shame that Callum didn’t get his free game, especially since he had to go and handle the replacement himself."
Seriously? He had to handle it himself? Do people think that along with the Kinect features there is a MS fairy that pops out of the Xbox One that does this for him. The sense of entitlement of this generation is absolutely astounding. All he had to do was contact MS and enter the Advanced Exchange program. Undoubtedly he did not want to wait the 2 to 3 days for a new console and contacted Game to see if he could get his direct replacement right away. Once he found out he could get one he took it to them.
How can media continue to beat on MS when they are providing the best replacement service in the next gen console business?
Truly astonishing.
