TeamXbox writes: "It's a well known fact that Sierra's new Ghostbusters The Video Game is hardly the first video game based on the classic 1984 comedy movie. But one look at this game and you'll say to yourself: "THIS looks like the Ghostbusters game I've always wanted." Featuring hi-res next-generation graphics, destructible environments and some pretty robust physics modeling, Ghostbusters could be any sexy-looking third person action game. Except for the fact that it's freakin' Ghostbusters, man. With voice acting by most of the original stars of the movie, all of the original music from the movies and a script worked on my no one less than Dan Akroyd, star and writer of the original movies. Oh yeah, and Mr. Stay Puft is a boss. That particular flavor of win tastes great toasted.
At publisher Sierra's recent gamers' day, developer Terminal Reality (the people behind BoodRayne amongst many other titles) showed the game off to us. But really what they were showing was a tech demo for their internally developed engine, Infernal. That's cool, because not only does the engine produce some really nice visuals, with a lot of details in the character models, but is also very robust when it comes to physics. The physics engine is called Velocity, and it's very capable of filling rooms with a lot of objects that you can destroy and throw around willy nilly. This fits the fiction very well. If you think about the scene in the first movie, when they first try to catch a ghost with the proton packs, they end up destroying an entire hotel from the inside out. You'll get to do that in the game as well, blasting your way through levels to capture your spectral foes."

WTMG's Todd Eggleston: "Ghostbusters The Video Game is nostalgia done right, and puts you right back in 1984. It isn’t a masterpiece of a game, and neither was the movie, but it reminds us again that it is ok for entertainment to just be entertaining. It is a game that deserves to be remastered and remembered. And 35 years later, it also serves to remind us that a remaster doesn’t always need to be Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliott. Sometimes, Ray Parker Jr. is exactly who you need to call."
