GameTap: Ghostbusters Preview - Get ready to be slimed

GameTap writes: "Video games based on licensed properties are a tough beast to tackle. If it's an established franchise, you run the risk of alienating your built-in fan base, and if it's an older franchise, your built-in fan base might not be the demographic that's most likely to play games. However, neither of these potential obstacles is stopping developer Terminal Reality from taking on Ghostbusters.

The first stop in the demo at the recent Sierra Gamers' Day was the New York Public Library-not for any gameplay antics, but rather for a look at the engine that Terminal Reality has built for the game. To the general public, physics demos aren't usually any sexier than a physics class; nevertheless, studio director John O'Keefe did a good job of keeping moving by dropping dozens of cars from the ceiling, followed by a slew of bodies, followed by even more cars and bodies. Next he showed off the slime tether, a weapon that lets you shoot one end of a slime band in one place and then shoot the other end of the band somewhere else; the slime then contracts, pulling the items together. O'Keefe strung together a series of cars from the ceiling; additional tethers pulled them higher up, while more weight would stretch the slime much thinner. While the editors of GameTap do not claim any scientific or programming expertise, we can say that it does indeed look like properties of physics are at work in the land of the virtual Ghostbusters."

Review - Ghostbuster The Video Game Remastered (Switch) | WayTooManyGames

WTMG's Todd Eggleston: "Ghostbusters The Video Game is nostalgia done right, and puts you right back in 1984. It isn’t a masterpiece of a game, and neither was the movie, but it reminds us again that it is ok for entertainment to just be entertaining. It is a game that deserves to be remastered and remembered. And 35 years later, it also serves to remind us that a remaster doesn’t always need to be Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliott. Sometimes, Ray Parker Jr. is exactly who you need to call."
