GameSpy: Ghostbusters Preview

GameSpy writes: "Until Sierra's media event a few weeks ago, the only thing we knew about Ghostbusters was that it existed and that the developer that worked on the Bloodrayne series, Terminal Reality, was behind the wheel. After checking out a tech demo, we're now very interested in whipping out our virtual proton packs and pulling in some supernatural apparitions.

Terminal's internal efforts seem to be divided into two core departments: the game's graphics engine and its physics engine. The tech demo started up with a look at the Velocity Engine, the physics system driving Ghostbusters' virtual Manhattan. Terminal showed off how the game's environments would react to one hundred objects (represented with blocks), then five hundred, then a thousand objects. Unlike many games of this generation, we're glad to see that not only can characters kick around environmental objects, those objects won't get stuck to feet."

Spiffy:
-Looks great
-Physics engine is rather impressive
-Seems to capture the films' spirit

Iffy:
-Occasional frame-rate drops outdoors
-Crowds are numerous but look a little homogenous

It is a game that deserves to be remastered and remembered. And 35 years later, it also serves to remind us that a remaster doesn’t always need to be Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliott. Sometimes, Ray Parker Jr. is exactly who you need to call."
