Why WiiU Should Be Your First Next Gen Console

A recent survey of 2,450 people at this year’s Eurogamer Expo in London conducted by Gamesindustry.biz found that the most important factors that your average gamer considers when purchasing a new machine are its exclusive content (34%) closely followed by its price (29%).

If this is what gamers want from their new machines, than which 8th generation console satisfies these criteria best, at the current time.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that the best console to spend your hard earned moolah on, for the time being at least, is the WiiU.

It is. Got it much earlier than I expected, too.

I've had it for almost a year and I've been loving it. It's not a crime to have fun with a system; even if the "core-gamers" don't agree that it should even be around.

It might even be my ONLY "next-gen" system. No, not because I worship a single machine like it's some god and declare everything else that isn't it or that doesn't come from the same creators is the plague - I simply don't find anything that the other systems offer to be truly interesting to ME.

Right now, in my eyes, they're just upgrades over their predecessors. That's all. There's no ground-breaking games released or announced that make me want them. While that can change, I'm still going to stick with one system for now and that's the Wii U. Enjoy your systems if you choose, because there's nothing wrong with that. We're all Gamers.

I find it hard to believe you were enjoying it at launch as the system was having some major game droughts and the only games it did have was ports but yet you still bought it anyways lol. I don't care if the "casuals" get mad but an X1 or a PS4 is definitely the consoles to go to this holiday season and the ones with actual 3rd party support to fill in those voids. ;)

wow LOL_WUT! i didn't know your opinion was fact!
"I find it hard to believe you were enjoying it at launch."
pfffft! its a new damn console, of course you enjoy it. i thought it was the coolest thing ever playing assassins creed 3 in my lap with the tv off. or using all the cool gamepad stuff in Zombi U. obviously that wow factor dwindled and the drought commenced, but even still, i bought a port of Deus Ex:HR, a 2 year old game and found it even more enjoyable because of the wii u's features. that speaks volumes about a console's uniqueness and fun factor when it can make a game ive played a million times feel new again.
And no, like the wii u wasnt the console to go to last christmas, the ps4 and xbox one don't have much to offer right now either. at least the wii u has a year of games to play, i could name a solid 10, ps4 and xbox one probably 4-5, but that is to be expected at a launch.

You obviously don't know the difference between "fact" and "opinion". Go take some Language classes man, you need 'em.

Regardless of what you think; yes, I frankly did enjoy my NEW system (who doesn't enjoy new stuff?).

- I enjoyed the various multiplayer sessions I had with my brother and friends in Nintendo Land.

- I enjoyed the Internet Browser, which the only thing that is stopping me from loving it as much as my laptop's browser, is lack of extensions and Flash support.

- I enjoyed browsing through Miiverse, viewing funny posts, "Yeah"ing awesome drawings and talking to (sensible) people.

- I enjoyed the various demos released on the eShop, all of which were pretty fun.

- I enjoyed Need for Speed: Most Wanted U and LEGO CITY: Undercover ~ both of which I've logged nearly 100+ hours into.

- I enjoyed the (free) online multiplayer; especially in NFS.

- I've also enjoyed the backwards-compatibility, allowing me to play my backlog of Wii titles.

...Yes, I've enjoyed my system; and I'm still enjoying it. The drought was bad, yes - but so what? All consoles go through it. There were some spotty releases throughout the year, which were pretty good.

I see no reason why I can't get up and say I regret getting the system at launch. It's provided me with hours upon hours of entertainment for nearly a full year, and still not showing signs of slowing down.

Try again.

Read and weep they were obviously superior ports as on metacritic wiiu has the best reviewed games in every gendre....best mass effect everything....hardcore as it gets kids, the most hardcore game out now is Monsterhunter on wiiu..

ps4 has 3rd party support but no 1st or 2nd party.

Xbone has a few good quality exclusives.

But when it comes to good quality games, gameplay, fun and replay value true hardcore gamers no that Nintendo wins in that department everytime.

so many positive wii u pieces in recent time. That super mario 3d world effect is a good sign of things to come

Xof4561d ago

3D World is such a fantastic game. I really hope they do a proper expansion pack for it, like they did with the last crappy NSMB game.

Right now, my only real problem with the WiiU is the terrible virtual console library and the inability to create FOLDERS. I mean, come on!

V0LT4561d ago

It really is.. I played with 3 friends over the weekend and had a blast!

Concertoine4561d ago

yeah, i think they want people to buy the wii versions of virtual console games so they can charge that 1.50 fee when they inevitably cut the wii virtual console and port it all over to wii u. i dont get WHAT'S taking so long with the VC. i remember they promised gamecube games too.

When I was in my home town I was with my friends playing Playstation at their house. Last year I had to move town for college. As I wanted to continue playing with them online. I made a somewhat bad decision to spend the money for a WiiU. I feel cut from them because I have NOBODY to play with on my WiiU. There's was one friend, but he hasn't log on since 10 whole months.

I don't know what people think negative about multiplayer and why Nintendo keeps making local multiplayer games. I just want to stay connected to my close friends and talk with them in a group chat.

I'll keep the console, but it was a terrible decision of a first console.

Metallox4561d ago

"It was a terrible decision of a first console". For multiplayer games, and especially online ones, of course it's terrible. However, the single player experience on Wii U is now more decent, thanks to games like Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, Super Mario 3D World and thirds like Assassin's Creed IV and Batman Arkham Origins. And still, you can get either a Wii Remote or a Wii U Pro Controller and invite your friends to play one of your games.

Yep4561d ago (Edited 4561d ago )

I was sold with Most Wanted U when I got my Wii U back in March. It's the perfect example of a third party game done right on the Wii U (PC assets and GamePad exclusive features that aren't simply tacked on). Usually I hold out for about a year or two (got my Wii in 2008).

WeAreLegion4561d ago

They release one decent game and we get all these articles? This is BS. I beat Super Mario 3D World. There's no reason to touch the Wii U again until next year.
