Come on, when you write articles like this, you subject the PS4 to unwanted attention. PS4 never promised to do all the things a PC can so they shouldn't even be compared on this level.

Well... If the PC have good enough specs so that when playing a game, enough resources are available to go above those that the ps4 has for gaming, then NO, ps4 does not beat a PC. But if a persons computer has lower specs available for gaming than the ps4 then YES it does beat the PC. You can't generalize all PC into one set of specifications.

Edit: Only in terms of raw performance-numbers. Not saying anything about the gaming experience.

@Acesonnall...The PS4 could easily pull it off if the engine was optimized for the platform. Before patches were released people were having trouble with stutter running battlefield 4 on PC's with Titans running in SLI. Don't blame the system for Bullshit code!!!

I'm not even going to read the article. While a PS4's version of a game can look bad when ported over to PC. Thats just the developer. What's the point of this article other than getting the PS4 camp and PC camp at each other? C'mon now!!
You have the PS4 that only the HDD is upgradable and you have the PC that you can, depending on how deep your pocket get the best graphics card available. These PC vs. console articles are just idiotic.

These articles are written just so the PC master race can have something to gloat about while the new consoles are getting all the attention. The thing is, I prefer console gaming and console exclusives. Mid gen, it will be time for me to buy a new PC and I'll probably get a decent gfx card. That is what I did last gen and I did end up playing mass effect and a few other games on it because they looked better than the console counterpart. However, I was never disappointed by AAA console games.

If we're talking the same price range, yes it does. And it will stay relevant far longer than any current PC hardware. Who is still running a GPU from 2005/6? Even a $600 card from that era can barely run a modern game, if at all. Optimization of dedicated hardware does wonders.

And I am primarily a PC gamer. i7 with SLI-570GTXs. Personally I must have the best experience. But for someone without about $500+ a year averaged to spend on PC parts, consoles are the best option. And I really don't understand the console power bashing these days. I'm just thankful they'll stop making games with PS3/360 as the baseline. That's been crippling game devs for like 4 years now. PS4/XBO make a fine minimum spec for a new era.

Of course not. Sure SOME games on ps4 will look better than SOME games on PC, Killzone looks better than CoD for example, but CoD ps4 won't look better than CoD PC and it will never match it for brute horsepower, everyone knows that.

But don't even worry about it, power isn't everything and artistry counts. My long time PC friend who hasn't gamed on console much since early ps2 days was recently very impressed with the Last of Us and bought a Ps3 because of it. I don't think he really cares that the resolution is less than Crysis on max settings.

If your looking for the best specs, get a PC. If your looking for the best games, get a PS4. If you want the best of both worlds, don't hesitate and get a PS4.

Multi-platform games will always have the potential to look better on progressively higher end PCs. Exclusives on the other hand, well, Crysis 1 from 2007 on PC and Beyond: Two Souls 2013 on PS3 speak for themselves.

Ps4 will outperform most of the pc's. The ones with higher specs too. Only elite rigs will perform better. All has to do with "coding to the metal".

Remember ps3 specs? 256MB XDR & 256MB ddr3, and look at the last games. A pc with lets say 2GB RAM & 8800gtx & core2duo for example wouldn't be able to run anything like; the last of us/beyond/bf4. I know cause that was my pc, and it crippled very fast.

PS4 is almost ten times more powerful only by looking at the raw numbers.

We'll have to wait for studios like "Naughty Dog, Santa Monica etc." With their first wave 1st party exclusives, we will see a big difference i think.

Also, it's very nice that someone wants to play at 4K, but give me a percentage of households owning a 4K tv or monitor that supports it.

Furthermore, resolution doesn't matter. It's gameplay, visual effects & aa that matters.

I rather play a game packed with effects and good animations on 720p/ 1080p then brag about how many pixels are on my screen.

What an utterly stupid question. Every level headed person knows consoles will never beat PC.

Consoles are simple, but that comes at a price in terms of quality and higher game price. Unless you only play the games from say Plus then even PC gamers would hard pushed to get the same 40 odd games for £40.

However PC whilst offer the best performence and are cheaper gaming wise. Require maintaince and upgrades and other things. Not that any of it is really all that taxing, but still requires more effort then console. And the reward is obviously higher.

I think we as gamers need to step away from the whole PC vs Console. And just accept that whilst PC gaming is supirior. Console gaming isn't a poor cousin, it just has its own strengths.

Put it this way, if you are happy with how games run on consoles that's cool. But if you want the best then you are going to have to work for it and get a PC.

I'm happy gaming with my 660ti video card. I don't need or want 4k resolution because it just isn't worth the price.

you can say ps4 is closer to a pc than the ps3 was.Those blurry textures are mostly gone and console gamers can at last enjoy some clear good looking games.I game on both pc and consoles and im kinda excited for that especially since the new uncharted was announced

Here we go again with the usual new console generation bullshit. New consoles get released and they get some exclusives. Some of them look good. What about the multiplatform titles? Looking better on the PC? How come? You can draw your own conclusions from that.

At least with the previous generations the consoles could compete with high-end PCs. This time around? Not so much, which makes the situation so much more laughable.

As usual, the console exclusives have about a year to perfect their GFX and hope to compete with the games the PC gets. Namely, bad ports and multiplatform games limited GFX-wise by the console hardware. It's downhill from then on, though.

Aaand once we get through this phase, a wave of "is pc gaming dead?" articles is to be expected. So yeah, enjoy the fun while it lasts.

As with all consoles:
It beats 99% of PC's at that price point.
It does not however outperform a PC that costs $700-800.

The PS4 GPU is basically a Radeon 7800 series chip. Let alone I am sure this is the mobile version.

PC gamers have been experiencing SMOOTH 1080p gaming for a LONG time. All I can say is Console gamers WELCOME TO 1080p gaming, this is the reason why console only gamers are so awed because they never really experienced this type of quality before.

Give it 2 years we will start seeing developers having to cut back due to the static nature of a console.

I love consoles, but I also love PC gaming. There is one major flaw when it comes to console gaming. Although the hardware is somewhat DECENT on launch, we still are kept waiting for a handful of decent games. As a PC gamer, it makes it worse, because all I am looking for are exclusive console games on my console.

The use of power in a CONSOLE vs a PC depreciates much faster IMO.

The PS4 is the most powerful console around but i wouldn't say it's more powerful than a PC. With "PC" i mean high-end gaming PC. That's just impossible.

I have seen gameplay of PS4 games with a lot of pop up graphics, jagged edges and weird looking shadows, yes I know it is early in the next gen console life. Overall next gen still does look much better than old gen. However on a good pc from about 6 years ago you could run games at 1080p, smooth as butter edges with graphics, minimal pop up/ in graphics, and nice shadow options. With that said the Ps4 basically seems like a re-branded 6 or 7 year old average gaming pc. With "8 core" and other marketing bs thrown in too boost sales. As of now I think PC games at 1080p with all graphics options turned on look much better then the console versions of the same games. If you are playing pc games at 1440p, 1600p, or 4K then no chance in hell (currently) will the current consoles produce better graphics then your pc.

PS4 looks acceptable but it doesn't compete with PC.

Console exclusives wil lalways look better than pc games, because rarely will you see a developer maximinusing the true potential of a pc high end gpu and cpu/ram. Because the cost wouldn't be worth it, seeing how games don;t sell that well on pc , too many pirating issues and most pc gamers have low end systems. On consoles however they can spends millions maximizing it's true potential because they know in the end they are dealing with more systems sold, the same hardware, and barely any piracy. So no matter how powerful pc is, consoles will always average better looking games.

I don't know what is scarier: the fact there is someone dumb enough to write such an article or the fact that it was approved for posting.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.

Wuchang is great. Nine Sols didn’t have a physical copy so I never played it but I’ve heard good things so I will check it out. I stopped playing sports games many years ago when before the card dlc’s or whatever they’re called.
