Half Life 3? I have NO clue what the fuss is all about something that is obviously vaporware.

There have been multiple sources saying HL3 has been in development for the past few years, likely with Source Engine 3. Half-Life and Hal-Life 2 changed everything we knew about FPSers and still have yet to be matched... HL3 will be no different.

Its weird playing a First Person Shooter these days where you actually are forced to think to complete a given task or challenge. Every single gameplay section revolves doing a different method of gameplay. When was the last time you had to set up defenses and traps to survive a wave of enemies or simply run when outnumbered? Or how about playing "dont touch the lava" my personal favorite with the gravity gun.

Half Life 3 is literally the only single player game that I am remotely interested in, Infinite left such a bad taste in my mouth.

@Wni0 That's sad to hear, I personally loved BioShock: Infinite. I haven't played any Half-Life game so I really can't say anything about Half-Life (Other than the fact that a LOT of people have been hyping the third one) but I can say that I'm amazed at how good BioShock: Infinite is once you replay it a few times. (I hated the game on my first playthrough lmao)

I'd like to see an Alien Swarm sequel too tbh, with proper controller support this time, it's got twin stick shooter written all over it. Some games defo play better with m&k, fps, rts etc but top down shooters need a controller!

Cant even remember but. How long did we wait for hl2? How many delays it had? Was it still a good game? It was fucking awesome.... i believe hl3 will be no different..

Speak for yourself. HL2 is and always will be my favourite game ever. If HL3 doesn't come out for another 20yrs I'll still be hyped for it!
As long as it's even half the game HL2 was it will be awesome.

Did Valve not learn anything from the release of Duke Nuk'em?
The longer you make people wait the more anticipation you built, if the game is not perfect in every way it will get trashed.

Isn't that a little different since Half-Life 3 has not even been announced officially yet? and the fact that development on it is assumed vs confirmed? Lastly...Valve is not having the game in development hell and are financially stable

Yeah, Duke Nukem Forever had big problems with frequent developer changes and financial issues. Besides, Valve takes care of their properties pretty well, so I agree with Angels3785 that this is a very different situation.

The real question we should be asking is... Are videogame developers finally going to start use smarter enemy A.I. Or do we have to sit through another gen of Spawn and Attack...

Not likely, PC is obviously the first and most important target audience. Plus the Steambox is just a mini PC anyway. Rather continue building my own than getting a Steambox. Probably still cheaper and more power.

The Source 2 engine has been in development since late 2010 for anyone not living under a rock.. So yes, it won't be much longer before a game is shown running on it.

I will definitely be upgrading my PC, or at least buy a nice new graphics card to play it at 60/120fps.

The thing i'm most excited about is seeing how much the physics will have improved, i want to see realistic spreading fire and water etc.. maybe water that actually floods area's and isn't just static.

I'm probably more looking forward to L4D3 than anything, but Half Life 3 will be a nice bonus for single player. Anyone find it strange that a new Doom always seems to follow closely with a new Half Life? Since Doom 4 was delayed, i wouldn't be surprised if we see HL3 and Doom 4 release closely again like Doom 3 / HL2 all over again.

Seriously though HL3 has been in development of some kind for like 3 years at least. Gabe has drop several subtle hints every now and then and has even said...

"we will release Source Engine 3 when we have a game to properly utilize it"....followed by a sarcastic grin, meaning HL3.

HL3 will release on XB1 PS4 PC and SM Holiday 2015 for SURE!

Also in one interview Gabe kept referring to Half Life 3 as Ricochet 2 which is Why I keep saying "Gamers need to ask for Ricochet 2 and Alien Swarm 2"

Ricochet 2 = Half Life 3
Alien Swarm 2 = Left 4 Dead 3

But I guess not many people here saw that interview.

And a primary reason to be a PC gamer, after all it was Valve who gave us the hugely popular Steam xD.

I am willing to bet that it will be a launch game for their Steam Box.

Source Engine 3 and Half Life 3 would be an awesome announcement along with the launch of the Steam Box. It could really shoot the sales of that system through the roof. Portal 3, Team Fortress 3 and maybe even Dota 3 all around the same time would make the world implode I believe.

Half-Life 3 isn't even formally announced yet and the Steam Machines are said to be released sometime next year. That's a pretty small amount of time to go from official announcement to full release. I think Valve would do something a bit smaller-scale for the Steam Box launch.

I never said anything about being exclusive to the Steam Box.

I know that they will release it for PC and maybe the new consoles as well, but it would help them a lot if they had a strong line up like that for the launch of it or shortly after.

Every one of the games I listed are due for a sequel. Some more so than others, but they are all due nonetheless.

I really don't get the hype about these games. Ok I will be the first one to admit that the Half-Life games are one of the best games ever made, but they are NOT as good as people try to make them to seem.
It got a good, compelling story with interesting characters
Gameplay is not the best, but still good and innovative.
The graphics are amazing for it's time.
So, what's all the fuss about? Most games are like this or even better.

Anyone missing Half Life 3 should have a go on Dishonored
if only because it's made by the same art designer as Half Life 2.

It might be more like a Bioshock on the whole but it's only survival horror-like if you make it so. It's much more 'leisurely' if you handle it properly.

I dont really see what the fuss about Half Life 2 was about, cutscenes sure, they brought that in, but for me the campaign was as dull as COD's campaigns.
