This topic has been discussed many times in the past. Come to think of it, this topic never seems to fade from the spotlight when discussing Microsoft and Sony's mammoth console machines, the Xbox 360 and PS3. What's interesting about this topic is that a lot of people were quick to side in the way of the PlayStation 3 when it was first released as being "future proof". The Xbox 360's multi-use of a standard DVD player with the option of attaching an external HD-DVD made it look like it was outdated before it was properly out of the gate. However, during these crucial times of the format wars (and the economy) Microsoft may have played it safe for future-proofing the Xbox 360 more than a lot of people think.

Square Enix launches Final Fantasy X 25th anniversary site, revealing new Nomura art, books, music releases, and merchandise.
Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.
Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.
More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.
Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.
All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
"However, while both consoles seem ready for another five years of serviceable gaming and multimedia functionality, there’s the major question of how effective certain aspects of the hardware (in both consoles) will play out in the long run. For instance, the Xbox 360 is already receiving major heat for disc space limitations, while the PS3 is still suffering from framerate issues due to the lack of proper processing utilization."
"While the original Xbox was more future proofed than the PS2 by a long-shot, it was quickly abandoned by MS due to the cost of producing the unit with an included hard-drive. This is not to say that an optional hard-drive would have spared the original big black box from its early grave, but it appears to be working wonders for the Xbox 360."
LMAOOOOO
Don't approve this noob written, fake, wanna-be, joke of an article that is so far from true. Why try to submit this? It's not true.
LoL.
Let`s see if it can make it thru people obsessions for GTAIV online. Future Proof....I`m sorry, the 360 has trouble lasting more than a year, and DVDs are the PAST, especially when it comes to gaming. PS3, Bluray is enough of a future for it w/ possibility of 200Gb discs being compatible thru Firmware. Storage capacity HURT the Dreamcast, and it`s already began w/ the 360.
End of argument.
EDIT: disagree all you want, it`s a fact.
You can't "futureproof" technology, otherwise it doesn't advance. The technology of both the PS3 and the 360 are already outdated the first time they hit the storeshelf.
The technology in the PC market advances at a really fast rate. The new GPUs and CPUs that are out now for the PC market will outperform these consoles by a huge margin.
There is no way that either the 360 or the PS3 could even run Crysis as well as a high-end PC and it was released a while ago.
Games made for the PS3 already look better than 360 games.
What is this chump talking about?
