Wow Nintendo exspects to sale 25 million Wiis this year those are some crazy numbers.

desolationstorm6608d ago (Edited 6608d ago )

Guess that means that got something up their sleeves for this holiday which I know they have to. Been a weird year all the big games that we knew about are all released in a 3 month period which will sell lots of hardward but cant pssibly last till christmas.

I just saw that there were 26 games for the wii that sold over a million in this fiscal year thats a lot.

Can't wait to see what they have for E308.

DS continues to make a killing despite the predominant "PSP > DS" sentiment on this site.

I think it's like that here for anything Nintendo makes.

and of course we go way, way back, but SSB, Mario, Zelda, Mario Kart, Metroid are already out after a year in Existance...

*Nintendo's Top selling Games by Console*

NINTENDO
1. Super Mario Bros. (40.23 million)
- DuckHunt (28.31 million)
2. Super Mario Bros. 3 (18 million)
3. Super Mario Bros. 2 (7.46 million)
4. The Legend of Zelda (6.51 million)
5. Tetris (5.58 million)

SUPER NINTENDO
1. Super Mario World (20 million)
2. Donkey Kong Country (8 million)
3. Super Mario Kart (8 million)
4. Street Fighter II (6.3 million)
5. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (4.61 million)

NINTENDO 64
1. Super Mario 64 (11 million)
2. Mario Kart 64 (8.47 million)
3. GoldenEye 007 (8 million)
4. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (7.6 million)
5. Super Smash Bros. (4.9 million)

Last-Gen GAMECUBE
1. Super Smash Bros. Melee (7.09 million)
2. Super Mario Sunshine (5.5 million)
3. Mario Kart: Double Dash!! (4.67 million)
4. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (3.07 million)
5. Luigi’s Mansion (2.53 million)

Do you see the Pattern...Nintendo heavily relies on old Franchises. I have a Wii and I like it, but I need something fresh, all the big Heavy hitters are already out. What's next? A new console?

wiizy6607d ago

and the big 2008 is not even over yet for the wii.

Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.

My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.

Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.

Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.
