This is very true, my nephews grew up on these two games and whenever I introduce them a AAA game whether old or new, it's like seeing an alien try to make sense of it and then quickly lose interest in it.

Gaming trends are so weird to me now. Like, I’m old school and games were consumed essentially how movies were. You play through a title and look forward to the sequel or other things that came out. Now, that is so not the norm.

I remember that announcement and I remember these Minecaft figures walking from right to left then disappearing (really random) . I think Sony knows (evident by the announcement) that not many people care as Minecaft is basically on anything (I can't remember anyone being shocked or amazed by that. Saying that, good observation and it is odd
I don't think Sony ever said it was a Launch title but i could be wrong

You literally linked to an IGN article that shows Minecraft in a column that reads "confirmed day one". You really should have read that first. It isn't even listed in the separate "launch window" category.
