Beyond: Two Souls vs. The Stanley Parable

Ben Yatzee Croshaw
Well. I finally did it. I put a rather upsetting amount of money where my mouth is. Yesterday I received delivery of a new Alienware desktop gaming PC. Up until now, I've mainly played new games on the consoles, and occasionally whatever interesting new PC releases my laptop could run (usually for about an hour on the lowest possible resolution before it set fire to my desk and melted through the floor into the Earth's crust). But no more! Now Steam releases can optimize as shittily as they want, and with the exception of exclusives and delayed PC ports, I can play all the newest games on a platform that doesn't fill me with foreboding.

Ever since Heavy Rain, I've been supporting Quantic Dream. They put heart and soul into their work and create art.

That art might not be for everyone, but it's polished, well designed and engaging for those that enjoy it.

I bought Heavy Rain just to play on my brother's PS3 each weekend, travelled home from uni just to finish it. What a great experience!

Heavy Rain was a masterpiece and one of my top 3 best PS3 games.
Beyond was solid as well but not as good.
Elliot Page is nonsense 🤦🏻

JASON JASONNNN yeah that was a great game, wish there was a proper remake

This is actually my favorite Quantic Dream game. I thought the story, supernatural stuff, and cast was great and super interesting. Hopefully the show will be good.

Same here, This one i liked the most. The variety in scenery and set pieces was refreshing and the supernatural aspect was well executed.

I am a bit biased however because I love all interactive movie like games

15 games on FIFTEEN pages? That's a NO from me.

Superliminal
Antichamber
Manifold Garden
Portal & Portal 2
The Stanley Parable
Monument Valley
Gorogoa
Thumper
Inscryption
Q.U.B.E. 2
Darq
Quantum Break
Perspective
Inside
The Swapper

IamTylerDurden11105d ago (Edited 1105d ago )

I think Inscryption is the best game on that list. PT and Returnal i would offer. Returnal deserves a spot over some of the listed games. Especially after chapter 3. Maybe even Alice MR? Death Stranding? Kojima all together. To much smaller degree Dead Space. I'm spitballing.

I didn't play Thumper enough to see beyond the visual spectacle. Curious choice.

I'd add FEAR and RE7 (when Ethan starts getting visions, especially in the boat) to that list.

Edit: and Here They Lie

Petebloodyonion1104d ago

What no Eternal Darkness on the list?

Only makes me think of gatcha loot crate game specifically built to play your mind into becoming an addict.
