The difference between 'Skylanders' on Xbox One & PS4 vs. current-gen

During our recent discussion with Eric Hirshberg, Activision's CEO, we had a chance to talk about the surprising success of the Skylanders series. While Swap Force was recently released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii and Wii U, a version of the game is also heading to Sony and Microsoft's next-gen platforms. Examiner asked Hirshberg how the upcoming versions of the game would stack up against what is available on shelves now.

I know one thing... You will need to buy next-gen models for it to work ;)

Activision Logic!

That is bloody disgusting on there part, I hate it when you have a game that you have to buy with peripherals, but this just takes it to a new level of fucking over the consumer.

aPerson4583d ago

The toys work on all versions of the game, including next-gen. There is no such thing as "next-gen model" toys.

OldAcc4583d ago

@aperson I meant to put "That would be bloody disgusting" but I accidentally put "That is bloody disgusting". Oops.
Also "There" should be "Their", might as well correct that as well lol.

neogeo4583d ago

can I insert the toy's up my arse? If not then I won't buy it and I will troll this game.

jeffgoldwin4583d ago (Edited 4583d ago )

You'll obviously have to buy a new copy of the game. That's not activision, that was a decision by sony and ms to use a different cpu. No ps3 or 360 games work on next gen systems. Nothing to do with activision. Next gen systems are using more of a pc-like chip set.

If your a kid, half the fun is having a physical statue of the character your playing. If your an adult, I really don't know why you'd be playing this anyways.

MadforitUK4583d ago

I play skylanders with my son.

Not been impressed with this 3rd party bull on ps4 and xbox1 because no 3rd party game looks as good as say MK8,Bayonetta2 or X so far i'm more impressed with WiiU graphics and resolution...

Kotick Made $155 million from MS in the buyout, the little b*tch needs to stop whining. Thanks to this Microslop deal and massive industry consolidation thousands upon thousands of devs and other workers lost their livelihoods. This greedy piggie pervert needs shut up and f-off.

Microsoft needs to listen or risk irreparable harm to Call of Duty

Windows Central: "The money may keep rolling in, but Microsoft is the custodian of one of the biggest selling video game series in history. If something doesn't change, I fear we'll reach a breaking point and irreparable damage will have been done."

Because ms is so good at managing studios, surely they will get it right

:P

In my view, they should probably merge MP with Warzone and essentially make it free to play like Halo Infinite. The campaign/zombies mode can be $30 yearly DLC. I know this would be insanity as most COD players essentially pay the full price of the game simply for the MP. However-with a shrinking player base they may have to consider it. Making it free would bring in a ton of players.

Profchaos173d ago

To late MW3 should have been a lesson but here we are two years later with a steaming pile a shite called blops7

Nothing lasts forever, eventually something will come along to make people forget about COD

Halo killer once arrived and technically call of duty killer also arrived, its name is Fortnite

dveio173d ago

Call of Duty was riding the revenue horse and charts for ~20 years. Whether undeserved or deserved.

But I endorse everyone to remind you that Microsoft could have decided differently when they took it over.

The money was certainly there, and they could have taken their time revamping the franchise:

Current-gen tech, manageable microtransactions, not imitating Fortnite and returning to core values of the franchise's origin.

They didn't.

Let's see next year. Hopefully without the then 13 years old PS4 and One hardware.

blacktiger172d ago

you need to stop saying "let see next year"
