Okay, nothing an update can fix.

JoGam4578d ago (Edited 4578d ago )

They gotta fix the problem first. Then update with the fix.

@Lalanana my fanboy friend, I hope so.

Lalanana4578d ago

lol those rumors are getting out of hand. November 22 cannot come soon enough..

P0werVR4578d ago

What is an update for?! And what problem are you on about???

thorstein4578d ago (Edited 4578d ago )

I said this a bit back. XOne: delay if you have to. PS3 came out a year AFTER X360. There is no reason to launch this console if it isn't ready.

My comment two months ago:

vigilante_man4578d ago

I hope they fix it soon - for all great XB1 gamers sakes. No one deserves this.

Guess rushing things will create problems on both sides. Great gaming awaits us all next gen once all these problems are ironed out.

Oh Snap!

but seriously MS can patch this in hopefully shortly after the X1's initial launch.

If the third point about the ES RAM is to be believed will developers hold back PS4 versions with features and other stuff because of this? Honest question because you know what Microsoft's policies are like...something along the lines of "If you make a better version for another system you can't publish your game on our console"

I mean in a way after what has happened over the recent months developers especialy higher up ones like Rockstar, Valve, Irrational, Rocksteady, Konami for example have the upper hand. I mean for example why would Microsoft refuse to have something like Read Dead 3, the next Bioshock or even Half Life 3 on their consoles. If MS starts to bow down to those developers then it could set off a chain reaction for even smaller devs to do it aswell.

mkis0074578d ago

I agree. Bet you anything all these ps4 and xbox1 rumors will turn put to be no worse than ps3 and 360 launch problems minus red ring and hardware failures in general. I dont believe a single hardware failure rumor this gen. It would ruin said company this time no matter whp it happened to. Overall I think we are just so dwprived of real hard factual info so close to launch thar we all have to jump on each other. Its a really hot day and there is no water.

I said the same thing

D@mn this got approved fast...lol

majiebeast4578d ago (Edited 4578d ago )

Doesnt anyone find it strange there has been no live demo of the Xbone UI only that fake representation video.

Penello's reason why there has been no live demo also puts up a red flag.

https://twitter.com/albertp...

You cant do a live demo because of ads.. yeah right who do you think you are with this.

All is not well in Redmond is my bet so much secrecy and sidestepping questions.

AngelicIceDiamond4578d ago

Don't worry MS will be fine at the end of the day.

Soldierone4578d ago

Maybe Google can show them how to feed fake placeholder ads in the OS so they can avoid that issue.... lol

TechMech24578d ago

It's strange the lack of any concrete gameplay or user interface from Xbox one from any sort of retail hardware, and makes you wonder whether Microsoft wasn't ready for the eighth gen, and simply surprised by playstation 4's power

IcicleTrepan4578d ago

yeah the SUVs driving around letting people play them or the units set up in major malls in the USA and Canada must be tricking people into thinking they're playing them.

Use your frickin brain.

TechMech24578d ago

@IcicleTrepan
After the red rings of death incident, I don't trust Microsoft in the slightest when it comes to new hardware.

mhunterjr4578d ago (Edited 4578d ago )

They have done various live UI Demo's for the press and a various trade shows... im not sure why people keep claiming its under wraps. http://www.wired.com/gadget... ,
http://m.youtube.com/watch?...

And as you can see, they had to either blur the tv content or used licensed footage, so yeah licensing is obviously a real issue.

Sounds like some people don't want the Xbox One to sell

JoGam4578d ago

Agreed. I'm not getting a Xbox One but damn I don't hate it. This ish is out of control.

PS4OUR4578d ago (Edited 4578d ago )

Out of control??

I guess you were not around for the launch of the PS3 then?
Because the same shit happened back then, only it was Sony in the firing line.

So don't for a moment think Sony fans are being asses because the same can be labelled for Xbox fans back when Sony was chucked on the grill.

It goes both ways buddy

-Foxtrot4578d ago (Edited 4578d ago )

@PS4OUR

Even then with all the hate the PS3 got it's not as bad as whats happening with MS now.

The main problem and I said main problem with the PS4 was the price, that was the "HOLY S***" moment but now looking back with the blu ray player where players back then were like double the price of the PS3 and the fact it's memory has allowed great stuff to happen on the PS3.....it's not as bad

With the PS3 you were paying more, for more

However with the Xbox One it seems your paying more for less

I don't hate the Xbox One games or Microsoft exclusives in general....I just hate Microsoft at the minute

Deadpoolio4578d ago

It's no worse than the delusional nitwits who can't admit that it's not going to sell as well as Microsoft is hoping, and that there are issues that might point towards them rushing it to the market yet again. As bad as their 55% failure rate for 4 years with the 360 hopefully not or probably not for the people who actually want to purchase it...... So it works both ways with the overly hateful and the Microjizz gargling delusional

christocolus4578d ago (Edited 4578d ago )

@lifesagame

and thats the irony cos the console is going to be very successful...i and everyone on my friends list is getting the console at launch and so with millions of others..fanboys only constitute a tiny tiny fraction of gamers world wide...in the end their opinions are like a drop of water in the ocean..those who want the xbx one have already pre ordered or are saving up as we speak for launch day or post launch....

Kayant4578d ago (Edited 4578d ago )

And it begins again.... Thanks console launch for the entertainment so far.

Also I love this guys passion... He is really trying to help MS here. The best way to debunk all this is show a real life UI OS tour same to Sony as well we are missing that from both I know Sony did so it at GC but launch is so close full tour is needed for both.

https://twitter.com/XBO_New...

PS4OUR4578d ago (Edited 4578d ago )

Some French website was messing around on the PS4 UI for a whole 30 minutes. Yoshida jumped on stage with a PS4 and did a quick demo of multitasking on the PS4 then joined an online Killzone ShadowFall match, LIVE.

I can't say the same for the Xbox One.

Something is amiss here. It doesn't take a genius to figure things out. They (MS) are having problems. Whether it gets remedied before launch is anyone's guess.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio12d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing12d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9212d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit12d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing12d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9211d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse

Xbox boss: Memory crisis could impact next-gen hardware pricing

Xbox boss Asha Sharma has discussed how component shortages will impact the company's plans for Project Helix.

Eonjay13d ago

When does this end? Its killing everyone. Consoles and PC. And for what? AI? The benefits of AI are completely outweighed by the negatives. And the government should have never allowed one company to buy up all the RAM.

Lexreborn214d ago

This kind of proves this is an after thought product, most products like this are in r&d 5 years before they start mass producing. So they typically have the cost of components and things worked out long before assembly starts.

This is an assumption still, but I wouldn’t be surprised if project helix is similar to Scalebound, perfect dark and sod3. They had an idea but no actual execution other than concept stage. Being impacted by the ram shortage likely would also put this device 3-4 years out.

I’m not even sure MS has that endurance with Xbox yet

Fishy Fingers14d ago (Edited 14d ago )

I mean.... what?

We're at a point that Samsung wont even provide their own phone department ram because they can sell it at higher prices to 3rd parties (AI). Its more profitable to sell the ram than make their own devices with it.

You think because R&D starts 5 years ago the 3rd party component manufacturers will honour that price? They'll sell it to whomever is paying the most today, not some gentlemens agreement they made years ago. AI farms will buy more volume at higher prices than any console manufacturer will. It'll be the same for Playstation.

Lexreborn213d ago

Contractual agreements are not the same as “gentlemen” agreements. If you think that they work with their distributors a month before production then their entire business model is trash. They work with companies like nvidia constantly for building the graphics cards they need. They work with companies that build motherboards years in advance. This is what proper business planning does.

They are not buying components on a whim like a consumer. So again, considering the ram isn’t a singular module and is integrated into the motherboard I highly doubt they wouldn’t have a final schematic that they are supposed to be building around.

If they are delaying production another 3 years then it’s obvious again this is an after though project and is just trying to be responsive to their bad execution they had the last 14 years.

It also isn’t far fetched to use their failure to produce first party titles the last 7 years including the highly anticipated games I mentioned all being cancelled. That they would continue to you know… lie

Sitdown14d ago

You don't really know how this works huh?

Profchaos14d ago (Edited 14d ago )

Helix is going to be stupidly expensive

Instead of leaning into smarter upscaling techniques they're brute forcing hardware that will cost them dearly and it remains to be seen if it's genuinely going to provide a meaningful differential

I know in the oc.doace people like to brag about not using frame gen or dlss to get to high on a game but for the majority of players they happily use those technologies without a second thought

That's going to be ps6 vs Helix

Eonjay13d ago

Yeah with FSR 5 they should be able to offer a much cheaper version of Helix.

Eonjay13d ago

While this does seem to be the case, I am encouraged by the statement from Microsoft about wanting to provide affordable options. If this means a Series S style Helix, at least there will be something affordable being offered.

XBManiac13d ago

Series S is what has killed Xbox Series so... Will they dare?

blacktiger14d ago

It's called systematic inflationary. Yes we get it Microsoft, keep raising in the name ofall kinds of stuffs

pwnmaster300014d ago

Honestly if there was thing I learned from this generation is that new consoles arnt day one anymore.
I can wait 1-3 years.

DarXyde14d ago

Another important lesson from this generation: while Nintendo showed us that prices don't necessarily need to ever drop, we've now learned that waiting 1-3 years does carry some risk that prices increase. This generation is just bizarre in all the wrong ways.

LucasRuinedChildhood14d ago (Edited 14d ago )

The factors are largely external. Covid and Russia-Ukraine war causing inflation led to the first price increase in 2022.

Then we get Trump's tariffs increasing hardware prices, AI boom causing a RAM crisis, war on Iran causing a worldwide fuel crisis which impacts the cost of everything.

Gaming doesn't exist in a vacuum. The last few years have been a shitshow and lot of it was definitely avoidable.

DarXyde13d ago

LucasRuinedChildhood,

For sure. No disagreement on the external factors doing a lot of this. Where I have to gently push back however is on two fronts:

1. The pandemic definitely caused some issues: asynchronous development was a big issue and really complicated timelines and affected game quality. At the same time, when it comes to price hikes, it's really difficult to know what was genuine necessity and what was taking consumers for a ride. The pandemic brought about "stag-flation" which was increasing prices and stagnant wages, which was a problem caused by supply chain constraints. There was also "Greed-flation", where companies that were slightly affected or had no issues took advantage of the situation and squeezed everyone citing supply chain issues when there were none.

2. It's definitely true that the tariffs, AI boom, and RAM crisis were all things enabled by tech broligarchs throwing money at this caricature of a world leader, one of them being Satya Nadella. I don't think Sony and Nintendo have contributed much to this problem if at all, but Microsoft's Nadella I feel was instrumental in causing every one of those issues. Microsoft as a company contributed to both candidates (though they gave Harris 4x as much if I recall), but Nadella was all in on letting AI run wild. He paid for unregulated AI, and got a war that's not a war (even though Trump called it that at least five times on television) that screwed up helium access. So for me, I feel that one of the players in the gaming industry is a key architect of these issues, and for that reason I struggle a bit to think of it as "external".

A good start would be to release games to go with the console. My Xbox Series X has gathered dust virtually from launch. My advice would be to ditch a next console and release games on PC, PlayStation and Switch. Another idea would be a hybrid console based on Xbox Series X tech and go the same route as Nintendo. Another idea would be to pull out of gaming altogether. Plenty of options there.

Reaper22_13d ago

Why would they pull out? They have the momentum. Sony has been getting nothing but bad news lately.
