Michael Garvie from ITF Gaming writes: One of the highlights at rAge 2013 was the Make Games SA stand, which showcased some of South Africa's most promising indie developers. Amongst them was Giant Box Games, a half-South African development team of David Nickerson and Dominic Dbojkovits, currently working on Pixel Boy.

From the review, "The gameplay mechanics in Pixel Boy are deceivingly simple. You control Pixel Boy with the typical “wasd” keys to maneuver around the constantly evolving dungeons, and you use your mouse to shoot. Sounds simple enough right? Except this game quickly gets difficult, even for the most well coordinated people who can tap their head while rubbing their stomach."

Some games just have a a way of putting a smile on your face. Pixel Boy by Giant Box Games may be early in development, but its already overflowing with indie charm.

Pixel Boy, a top-down shooter from independent studio Giant Box Games, is intent on mixing things up and bringing something new to the genre. From the get-go it’s obvious that you’ll be playing in a world not filled with deep characters and dramatic plot points, but one of light-heartedness and levity.
