Yet more proof this week, if more proof were needed, that the next generation does not start when Sony says it does. Or when Microsoft says it does, for that matter. The last-minute delay until spring 2014 of Watch Dogs, Ubisoft's post-internet open-world 1984-'em-up, was met with a certain amount of shock and no small degree of disappointment. Once that wore off, however, the greater concern was what we are going to play on next-gen consoles instead.

Insider Gaming - "Ubisoft has cancelled yet another game, this time ending development on the Animal Crossing-inspired title Alterra."

HALIFAX (April 14, 2026) – Laid-off Ubisoft workers in Halifax have voted overwhelmingly in favour of a settlement with the video-game giant. The terms of the settlement, including the compensation employees will receive, is confidential.
I can't sit here and act like I know these workers financial situations. And I'm sure nobody wakes up WANTING to go to court. But for the sake of the industry, I wish some of these types of cases made it to trial.
Settlements allow companies to continue to do whatever abusive practices they do. While the trials (should the company lose) would actually force real changes for the better.
But again, I'm not in these workers shoes and I can understand them not wanting to risk it.

Two-day event includes exclusive reveals, trailers and playable games on show floor.
agree.there isn't much going for either consoles at launch
xb1has a sefinite edge but theres little compulsion to buy either.
current gen systems are still kicking ass atleast for another 8-10 months
We still have Killzone shadowfall , Assassin creed, Battlefield 4 , Ghost , Planetside 2 ..etc
These a lone will take at least 3 months to finish. So while you do that other games released like inFAMOUS second son + including the delayed games watchdogs and drive club.
Personally, more recent presentations of Watch Dogs have not filled me with the same glee as that first E3 demo last year. Just looked way too good to be true.
It's extremely frustrating to see the editor of a major gaming publication like Eurogamer openly display such malaise at the dawn of a new console generation.
Ever get the feeling you're in the wrong job, mate?
