Such a shame. I was really looking forward to this (big ES fan), then the subscription plan news came and all excitement wore off.

Some people actually prefer to pay to play than to have a lower quality game for a false illusion of it being free.

Free to Play games never have the same quality of pay to play games, and never have the same stream of quality content for everyone to enjoy, because considerable development resources have to go into fueling the in-game supermarket.

The monthly fee for an MMORPG is crumbs, and more than worth its entertainment value. It's basically equivalent to going to the movies once.

meatysausage4474d ago

Not when you have to pay LIVE/PSN every year, the game price $60, then on top of that the $15 for the month.

Absolutely ludacris for console gamers and does not work at all. Maybe PC but there is way to many costs involved

sevilha824474d ago

15$ buck a month is´nt crumbs it´s 180$ a year plus the subcrition you choose(plus or xboxlive) and the price of the game makes a total of 300$ if my calculations are correct ,thats a lot of money for one game.
It´s a rippof in today´s economy.Many gamers just can´t afford(waste) that kind of money due to other prioraties(chilldren,bills,mor gages,food,etc..)

And i´ts a damm shame we love elder scrolls but most of us wiil have to pass it or pray that it will go free2play in due time.

Looks to me like you don't have a freaking clue about the MMO market.

F2P games have proven time and time again to be vasty more profitable, except for the rare case of WoW-level subscribers.

TekoIie4474d ago (Edited 4474d ago )

@Abriael

So why not take a GW2 direction? Only one purchase required and then you can support them through Micro-transactions or just play the game without paying anything else.

saikorican4474d ago

That's extremely bold to say that a free to play is always of inferior quality than a pay to play. In game transactions can actually go a long way to improving your game in lieu of a monthly subscription fee for all users.

phantomexe4474d ago

@ meatysausage mmo are outside of the pay wall which sony told us more then once. You don't need to pay for plus and pay to play the mmo as well. besesda or how ever it's spelled tryed to work out a deal with MS for the same thing but i don't know how it ended.

awi59514473d ago

@meatysausage

Maybe they should have cut a deal like square did for xbox 360. FF 11 ran on a xbox live silver account no need to pay for gold to play FF 11 online on xbox 360.

I have to agree, I put in well over 200h on Skyrim, was really excited about this and one of the main reasons I was buying a PS4. As soon as the subscription model came out I lost all interest, I have enough bills to pay as it is, I cannot justify another one to play a game online, especially after buying it for £50!

GarrusVakarian4474d ago

Same here, but i have more or less 600h on Skyrim. So you can imagine my disappointment when they announced the sub plan.

Abriael4474d ago (Edited 4474d ago )

See the great thing, there are plenty F2P MMORPG out there for you. Even too many of em.

Luckily some developers still value those that want P2P one.

As with all things, you get what you pay for, and honestly putting a zillion hours in skyrim doesn't mean this one should be made according to your taste.

GarrusVakarian4474d ago

@Abriel

We didn't say they should cater to our tastes, we were just stating out how many hours we have played Skyrim to show how much we like the franchise thus making the disappointment more believable.

Like the guy said above, paying for Xbox live and PSN and then having to pay for the game aswell and THEN the sub is too much.

Abriael4474d ago

@Lukas_Japonicus: then you should complain to Microsoft and Sony that make you pay for Xbox Live and PS plus instead of complaining about the game, that needs to make a buck, and does so in the best way possible to ensure quality.

TES games have had proly ugliest female characters ever.

Saviour4474d ago

i think it will not require gold or ps+?

thekhurg4474d ago

It requires Gold, but not PS+.

BallsEye4474d ago

Exactly my thoughts. I'm a huge TES fan (playing it since Arena 1994!) and I've been looking forward to playing a serious MMO on a console, until subscription plans we're revealed. Not that I can't afford it, I think it's just wrong! After experiencing on my pc such amazing game as Guild Wars 2 which was b2p, I really don't think subscription is needed for a game to bring profit. Actually I think they'd make much more money if they would go Gw2 style. Sell game for 60 without subsription. After Skyrim had such success even on consoles, this would sell tens of millions of copies and would bring huge profit.

awi59514473d ago (Edited 4473d ago )

Yes and guild wars 2 totally sucked and had almost no content for max players the first year it was out. SO alot of people left the game and haven't came back. Lvling in guild wars 2 is great untill you get max lvl then you die of boredom. So yes you get what you pay for.

Nice. Should make it easy to discern your character from others in the heat of battle.

I have always been a big fan of being able to customize your character's appearance in games. Definitely brings an added layer of immersion when playing.

Game seems like it might be coming along very well.

Wow, huge improvement over the last time I played the closed Beta a month ago. I guess this explains why there haven't been many sessions lately.

GentlemenRUs4474d ago

Subscription plan made me ditch this one... Shame really...
