Sony teases Amnesia developer’s next project

“Something strange is afoot,” the PlayStation Europe tweeted this morning.

The tweet includes a link to SOMASystems.org, the same website the official URL for Amnesia developer Frictional Games’ next game redirects to.

hmm another title coming for PS4? sweet

P0werVR4526d ago

Oh look PS4's dev kit!

I'm j/k..

Well, we know Everybody's Gone To The Rapture (which is developed by The Chinese Room, developers of Dear Esther and Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs) is being published by Sony but now it looks like they've got something else planned with Frictional Games as well.

Only time will tell if they're developing this new IP exclusively for Sony. Amnesia is one of the best, most atmospheric horror games ever made.

Every week there's a new PS4 game announced. It's crazy.

Neonridr4526d ago

Outlast may have eclipsed that recently, but I agree, Amnesia was an amazing game. Exciting news for sure.

This is just a joke. But I guess this is what it felt like for 3rd Party Devs at the beginning of the PS3 lifecycle.

I can see them wondering WTH? Well lets try this..... Image appears on the screen showing them dying. WTF Did I do?!

Benjammin254526d ago

Hopefully a survival horror game exclusive to PS4. Could you imagine how good a game like Amnesia would look running on PS4? And before the PC elitists start telling me how the PC is way more powerful, i'm not denying that. But the Dark Descent wasn't a good looking game no matter how powerful your rig was.

Kluv4526d ago

OMG, what if they were assigned to bring back Siren, Sony's horror IP?!

Enemy4526d ago

No way this is Siren. This is sci-fi horror.

CGI-Quality4526d ago

Beyond that, Siren is Sony Japan's. So no.

FlameHawk4526d ago (Edited 4526d ago )

Siren is made by a team in SCE Japan called Project Siren, so I doubt that. They also made Gravity Rush and with the teaser of the Next Gravity Rush that they showed a TGS I don't think one will come anytime soon.

FlameHawk4526d ago (Edited 4526d ago )

Holy crap lol, it really isn't a joke when people say there is a new PS4 game every week.

Sony = Outstanding First Party Games + Stupendous 3rd Party Support + Indie Games!

I'd love another helping of my Sony Smoothie please!

SOMA, a Ten Year Reunion

WTMG's Leo Faria: "I wanted to keep this retro rewind brief as SOMA is something better experienced when you know very little about it. It might not be the best walking simulator I’ve ever played, but I was floored by its amazing story and premise. Jump into it with an open mind and little to no knowledge about. After a good eight hours, the story will be over, but that’s when you’re going to start philosophizing about its topics and themes. It might not be a brilliant game per se, but I also don’t think it would have been as effective as it was in any other medium. Give it a go, it’s totally worth your time, even after a decade."

I hated the actual game but loved the story, even 10 years later that ending still sticks with me and makes me think what is life and what is living.

I love games that have a story stick with me.

FinalFantasyFanatic144d ago

Me too, great story, but I did not enjoy that gameplay, really wish the gameplay had been better.

I’m not into run away and/or hide type games generally if not done very well either
