always needs to be a protagonist in video games. Weve fought the North Koreans, the Russians, the Nazi's and the Germans. You really cannot have any type of FPS that does not have a bad guys of one nationality in it. Otherwise we'd be playing The Sims.

I would love a FPS that is less black and white as like in real world situations. Like it or not people Nazis were humans as well. Yes they committed the worst atrocities in Human history but it dosen't take away the fact they they are human as well. I am sure Hitler love his relatives like anyone else and he is not a Demon from hell as some of you believe.

I totally agree with what the author is suggesting. Game devs should make games that make gamers think about why they are fighting and in a way explain a little why the bad guys are they way they are. All of you that know history knows that the Germans pretty much got a pretty raw deal after WW1.A war that shouln't have happened in the first place.

Bottom line is. I believe games should be more complex like some great movies like schindlers list.

Vilification is a nice thing. Do note, that the idea of Autobahn is of German origin (namely from the desk of a nazi official), and similar roads are now everywhere. NSDAP may have done a bit too much things on the worse side, but they did something good as well, as strange as it is. Yes, they were "evil", but then again so was USSR a mere decade afterwards... I'm extremely tired of fighting Germans in WWII games. The whole WWII genre in general is extremely tiring. I will not buy another WWII game since I played COD2. I'm just fed up with the whole time period.

We need a new group of evil people to combat in games. How about the hip-hop industry? All their swearing, using the N-word (even I find that offensive as a white person) saggy ass pants, talking about smoking pot all the time, referring to women as b!tches and whores, it's just a sad genre of music.

You probably feel that the soldiers you shoot in the games have familys and souls also. ITS A GAME. WW2 was the last time there was such a solidarity in the world. interesting to see people in this thread talking about gaming on an intellectual level but when it comes to debates regarding Resi' people's intellectual switches get stuck on off. I'm not resurrecting the "it's racist" I've never used those words, i've just said it looks ugly.

But like one mtv blogger said we've been seeing images of poor africans since we've been kids, and now they're making a game where you cant tell whether or not they're non-zombie zombies? or just angry village people. didn't you see the TERRIBLE terrible dialogue and characters and stupid mystic enemeies. Because we control the characters in these videogames we should be able to learn exactly what our actions will do to others, so with these nazi games it'd be a good idea to play as multiple character to see varoius viewpoints.

Lastly some guys higher up have said "oh the victors write history" that's true but we shouldn't compare this encounter(Nazi's vs everyone) to others that have happened in history i.e. Iraqi vs europeans. The goal, albeit a dubious one, of Americans in operation freedom was not to completely wipe arabs off the face of the planet it in fact was purpotedly to spread democracry. Who knows what the actual goal was can't be arsed to go there.

Humans by nature are alruists obviously there are things we do which are quite individualist. But gassing jews had no logical point, no beneficial utility. In horrific circumstances people's prejudices which they've been taught by the world around them is frequently abandoned and solidarity develops, the nazi vision went against such solidarity and therefore was defunct. The Nazis are uses so much in games because they are the perfect embodiment of human evil, and no one feels bad killing them. I've probably killed the entire Nazi army three times over in my years of gaming. I can see where the author is coming from though. I think a lot of German soldiers where probably not horrible people. They were just citizens doing what they thought was their duty.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
