Breaking the Language Barrier

Ever wondered why you have to wait quite so long to play games that have been out in Japan for years? It's because turning Japanese into English – and French, and German, and Spanish, and Italian – takes a little bit of time. A little bit of time and a fair amount of effort. But those efforts have been getting better: the days of 'All your base are belong to us', are well finished now. Instead companies are enlisting the help of Harvard-educated literary translators like Jay Rubin, who took time out from translating the likes of leading Japanese novelist Haruki Murakami, to work on Microsoft's Lost Odyssey. Companies like Square Enix are taking localisation to a new level.

... if games would just remain in the original language, without being dubbed. And if you are a company that's making a game that will have cross-over appeal, you should already start including subtitles etc in the first version of the game.

I dont buy games that only have the dubbed voices. Cant stand dubs. They usually (there are exceptions) dont hold up.

Capcom says it wants Mega Man, Devil May Cry, and Ace Attorney to be 'core IPs' like Monster Hunter

Sorry if you were expecting Bionic Commando.

Actions speak louder than words. Show me a new Mega Man game that isn't a collection of games I played yesteryear. If they can churn out some kind of RE game every other year they can make a new Mega Man entry. It's not like it's known for its deep stories.

I can see DMC, but the others just weren't built for that without some major adjustments on how they're played.

If they make the right choices and right kinds of games, the Mega-Man IP could potentially be made into an animated film or streaming series like the success of Mario and Sonic. Surely that thought may have crossed their minds? Or am I being silly? I mean there is a lot more water to go under the bridge for them to even start considering that. But I used to be a big mega-man fan back in the day. I'd love to see it happen.

It’s being done on purpose just to destroy inafune . It’s some pride stuff on the inside .

blacktiger153d ago

all talk and if they launch it will cost $200

shinXseijuro153d ago

Just like the guys said . I’ll believe it when I see it . Even the shareholders are asking questions regarding Megaman . I don’t want to sound ludacris but I have a strong conviction that the heads at Capcom are purposely holding the Megaman IP down because of their grudge and spite towards inafune on some deeper Japanese honour code stuff . It’s deeper than we think . You can tell something isn’t right .

Well i hope DMC is being worked on. Either a remake of 1 or 6 will do.

And bring back Megaman X. Either regular, command mission or make it a Metroidvania since silksong is so popular.
