Perfect is subjective for sure,

for me, I'm still searching for the perfect game. I think that's what keeps me on the frontiers of the gaming world. In search of that perfect game

skimpy outfits.

Yes! So glad GTA IV is on anyones list. That game is so underrated, and definitely the best of the series.

Great article Jeff, as always. It's hard for my to pick my 'perfect' game. I suppose I'd have to look back over the past 20 years and look at the game that has withstood the test of time. A game that has been there for my in every phase of my life, and has taught me something new every time. High replay and sentimental value, as well as a strong story and fascinating characters.

That game for me has to be the The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It was the first video game I ever devoted my life to. Today, it's the game I escape to if I'm every feeling lonely or broken or just bored. The story taught me that I can be the hero in my own journey, as long as I posses the courage to push forward even when everything seems hopeless.

I know, I know. It's a cliche choice, but I can't help it. There's just something so special about that game that never ceases to amaze me.

If the GAMEplay isn't perfect then it can't be a perfect GAME.

There's some degree of personal opinion mixed with solid gameplay mechanics, story, graphics exc. Most people agree games like MGS3, SOTC, Metroid Prime exc are all AMONG the best games made where I may personally say Metroid Prime IS the best game ever made (just an example). I think how groundbreaking a game is (gta3, ff7, OOT, P3) and the first game you play from a genre influence your opinion a lot. There may be better jrpgs but for many FF7 was their fist. There's better Zelda's but most played OOT or ALTTP first. Sometimes that doesn't hold true like MGS3 being IMO the best in the series so far but it wasn't my first. There's no perfect game but some are close. It takes everything working together from music, art style, graphics, gameplay, story all working together to create something more than the sum of its parts. Something that has near flawless execution.

Games I think that are near flawless are

Metroid Prime, OOT, SOTC, MGS3, FF10, Fire Emblem Awakening, SMT4, Xenoblade, TLS, Uncharted 2, Alan Wake, Demons Souls, MK64, Chrono Trigger, TWEWY, and quite a few others. As a whole these games were mind blowing and had nothing I disliked about them.

2: Great Characters

3: Doesn't care for Equality of Woman BS

4: Good Story

While I liked the article plenty, the thing I found to be the most interesting was that I had no idea about 428. I was like "What is that game? It sounds familiar, but..."

Oh. It's a visual novel by Chunsoft. Just like 999, one of my favorite games ever, except this one will probably never ever see localization...

As far as perfect goes, I don't think I'm interested in finding the perfect game. Games designed with a real vision to them, by one creator trying to make an interesting experience, will always fall short somewhere - or at least not serve every audience. 999 is the perfect game - if you're fine with a lot of text. The World Ends With You is perfect - so long as you can keep up with the dual-screen insanity. MGS2, Mega Man 2, Final Fantasy 6, Skyrim - they all have their flaws, and are also great. I just keep playing good games. If I search for the perfect one, I'll always be let down, because that isn't what play is about.

Half Life 2 is THE Perfect Game!

The Story, the action, the mini sandbox feel, the enemy A.I., the Physics, Alyx Vance, and the Gravity Gun!

STALKER Call of Pripyat would be my next perfect game as the Open world and A-Life A.i. was so good that NPC's acted almost like real players.

GTA San Andreas was perfect even with that CRAPPY bi-plane mission. I spent hours in San Andreas just causing chaos with out paying any attention to the story.

Street Fighter 2 Turbo Edition, Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec, Tecmo Bowl, Super Mario Galaxy 2, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Call of Duty 2, Deus Ex, Minecraft, The Elder Scrolls Morrowind, Pac Man, Sonic The Hedgehog, etc..

Man. THPS! So great..

The Last of Us is the most perfect game I have ever experienced.

And will experience again.. very soon.

Half-Life 2 and System Shock 2 were both perfect games for me as well

Perfection itself is impossible but there´s many games that are clearly great experiences but that doesnt mean everyone will enjoy it the way you do.

The perfect game for me will probably be MGS5 love the series, gameplay is reaching new heights, emmersive world and characters and soundtrack.
