Sengoku Basara 4 Hands-On Preview | Twinfinite

Yamilia from Twinfinite writes: "Game of the show, folks. Yes, it’s silly and simple. Yes, it can be repetitive. But so help me if it isn’t insanely fun to pull off the crazy combo moves and kill off all the feudal generals in Sengoku Basara 4. The gameplay is a lot like Dynasty Warriors with its focus on hack-n-slash, but I dare say that it takes the wackiness up a notch. Complete with over the top moves that have you almost losing total control of your character as it flips and somersaults through the air needlessly (but awesomely). New additions to the series since Sengoku Basara 3 are the leveling up mechanics and partner system that grants you the power to order around whoever is teamed up with you (as well as perform a pretty cool special art together when your gauges are both filled up). No word yet on if Capcom is going to localize it but it is going to be out in Japan in early 2014 for the PS3."

The Story behind Development of Sengoku Basara

Capcom has published a special feature detailing the story behind development of the Sengoku Basara series on its investor relations website.

The story is a narrated account featuring series producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi and director Makoto Yamamoto. When Kobayashi proposed the idea for a new kind of action game, Capcom was reluctant, but company president Kenzo Tsujimoto gave him the green light. The game’s team was mocked within the company at first, as most believed it to be a game that would never sell, but what ultimately came to fruition was something that the entire company had faith in.
