Eight Small Things We Wish GTA Would Bring Back

OXM - "While we love many of the amazing new things Grand Theft Auto 5 brings to the series (like rappelling, shown above) , there's a handful of feature cut from older games we wish could have come back (though we can always pop GTA IV or any previous-gen GTA in our Xbox to experience them again). Read on for the Eight Small Things We Wish GTA Would Bring Back!"

Celebs would be welcome in my opinion, I don't care what Rockstar says about you only seeing the celeb and not the character because to me thats a lame excuse. I think they are being cheap in my opinion

The cop car ammo/shotgun thing would of been nice to see back, I feel like in GTAV you can get guns/upgrades way too easy. Especialy when they stay in you inventory after you've acquired them. Don't like how theres so much empty room on one side of the gun shop.

Finding Weapons - What happened to this, remember when you used to find like a mini gun on top of a bridge or a dildo in the cop station showers. What happened, it would of been better earning your weapons or unique weapons

Wanted Stars/Hidden Armour - Not present at all, kind of a shame.

No oldie Radio station - Seriously worst criticism of GTAV is the radio for me. Not one oldie station like K-Rose or Flash FM. Oldie songs mostly everyone knows

I agree with the Jetpack thing aswell, I was kind of expecting a UFO or something like that but I mean come on as long as they arn't in the story there should be more weird unique cars/weapons. What about the Ghostbusters car, Trotters three wheeled car off Only Fools and Horses, Knight Rider, Back to the Future DeLorean or a Tie Fighter off Star Wars

Plus I don't like how you can't just simply dye clothes. If I see a white shirt but I want it in Green or black why can't I go somewhere like a Hippie dye shop for example and dye my clothes. I mean it would add a better sense of customization

Having played only for about 15-20 hours, totally agree on the radio stuff. The set list is awful for someone not into rap/hiphop or po(o)p.

Did we really need 38 hiphop stations?

-Foxtrot4637d ago

I know...one hip hop station would of been enough

In past GTA games you had a spefifc radio station for each genre

One Rap
One Hip Hop
One Spanish

then

One Oldie
One rock
One Metal

etc

Even the music in the ones I like are kind of crap. I don't mind pop but it's full with modern crap which could count as R&B.

There is some great bands but it's the chosen songs, either a crap one they've released or a one which no one has heard of.

Sketchy_Galore4637d ago

I have to agree about the radio. I have been thinking its just that I'm becoming an old fuddy duddy and am not hip to most new music but I would like a channel with some more classic, iconic songs rather than so many of the electro-wave-hop-club stations that I can't really tell apart.

Still, even if its not Vice city's radio it's a damned sight better than GTA4's for me at least. In this game we still get a bunch of good classic soul, funk and country songs. Most of the tracks that weren't instantly forgettable fashionable at the time crap in GTA4 were a bit too far the other way. We get it, Fela Kuti was an important and innovative musician, I would still rather do my car chase to Ghetto life by Rick James, sorry.

Even if you are into rap/hip-hop the radio stations are still pretty awful.

The radio stations are fine.

Blue ark reggae is good, the world music is good, the mirror one is good the kenny loggins station is good, the one with the classic 70's and 80's rock is good....

Yea there is a few junkers but there are a ton of songs.

I'm almost positive most people haven't heard every song on every station yet.

cdrbedlam4637d ago

1 and 7 for me.

More meaningful property ownership and having games in past eras. Vice City and San Andreas yo!

Wow, I actually read the post instead of just the headline...

optimus4637d ago

i could have sworn seeing someone using a hydra jet pack in the opening credits which would indicate that it is in the game... the radio stations haven't bothered me yet since i'm not in a car for more than 2 songs at best. and i usually go around the dial until i find a song i like...

imagine my glorious surprise when i stumbled onto eddie murphy's "party all the time"... what the game needs is a way to save a playlist of the songs you hear and simply let you play it in the background kind of like an on going theme song...
i know the songs give you an option to share through the rockstar website but how many people will actually be on that on a regular basis realistically?...perhaps if it let you transfer songs from that site back into the game?...hmmm

PlayStation Store’s top downloads of 2025

O'Dell Harmon Jr. writes: "Before we say goodbye to 2025, let’s take a look back and see what were the most downloaded games of the year. It was a great time for sports, shooters, and some new PlayStation VR2 games. Sports favorites topped the charts in US/Canada and EU, with NBA 2K26 and EA Sports FC26, respectively.

Juggernaut GTA V found a home in the top three for both regions, with new 2025 release Battlefield 6 claiming second place in the US. Fortnite took top place for free-to-play games, and Beat Saber continues its PS VR2 success."

FH5 4th in Europe compared to North America 14th. Not surprising.

LucasRuinedChildhood136d ago

I think it shows how shortsighted it was for Sony to let go of Evolution and not get them to make some sort of competitor (open world Driveclub?) 10 years ago.

bionicstar136d ago (Edited 136d ago )

its a hard bet to make. hindsight is always 20/20.

Christopher136d ago

After Driveclub's reception, hard to say it would have done well enough to compete. It's easy to dream of such a thing, but to make it happen? It's taken how long for CoD to be dethroned? And it was dethroned by Hogwart's Legacy and has gained it right back just the next year.

It’s funny to watch the only games EU and USA agree on was Minecraft and back ops 7 both regions on 6 and 7 spot respectively other than that FIFA rules EU

gold_drake136d ago

yeh, football is really popular here in europe ha

I would like to see a list that has both free to play and paid games together, but at least we have this.

To this day GTA5 is a top downloaded game and it makes me wonder if the industry is really ready for GTA6. I imagine almost nothing else will sell during that game's release window.

I’ve never played Fortnite GTAV or CoD BO7 but I do own GTAV for PS4/5 because I got them cheap.

gold_drake144d ago

i think we should either take those games out, or make a singleplayer list too ha

badboyz09144d ago

I still play gta V alot. The others nah.

Popsicle144d ago

This is why we can’t have nice things.

Tacoboto144d ago

What exactly are we not getting?

Did we not just have a 2025 filled with nice games like...

Silksong, Doom TDA, Expedition 33, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Ghost of Yotei, Dispatch, Split Fiction, Hades 2, DK Bananza, and so many more?

Popsicle144d ago

Agree that all you just posted are great games. Expedition 33 is one of my favorites. Spent a large chunk of time on BG3 in 2023. Another for my all-time list.

My point though not well articulated in the OG post is that we would get more of the games of the quality you mentioned if so many valuable resources were not allocated to FTP slop and/or heavy monetization schemes. Some of what used to be my favorite franchises have been ruined by them.

To sum it up, I would like to see games like 33 outperform the profits made by games like Fortnite so more resources are allocated to great games. When heavily monetized FTP games are at the top of the list, we end up being stuck with a significant chunk of games that are not good. Or worst case scenario games that spend years in development, but get cancelled due to industry trend chasing.

cloganart144d ago

Such a pessimistic view. This year gave so many good games.

Christopher144d ago

Popsicle, I actually think we're getting more great games because of the slop. Developers are seeing that people aren't happy and taking advantage of big AAA studios not delivering for people.

Popsicle144d ago (Edited 144d ago )

Perhaps, and I hope you’re right. A shift is needed IMO
