It's really close but the X360 version stands out just enough to make me pick that version.

EDIT: If you can't see the differences on the shadow, vegetation and textures on some of the pictures you are either blind as a bat or a dirty fanboy.

Ok i agree theyve done a fatastic job R* However the AA is slightly off with the 360 version looking at some the links also a bit blured. I give the Edge to the PS3 but this is minor and this is of course image from a distance.

I'll be waiting for the superior PC version. It's going to take some serious modding for the game to be fun to begin with considering how boring GTA4 was.

Is it just me or does the 360 looked a little washed out compared to the PS3 version? Other than that (which could just be down to display settings) I can't see any difference at all... Then again I don't exactly have 20/20 vision.

I also checked sounds archives in PS3 version: its all compressed into MPEG 1.0 layer 3, 32000 Hz, mono, ~80 kbps. So no sounds advantages here between versions :/

In that 5th comparison, the palm trees look better on the 360 version. Other than that its very hard to see any differences. Most important thing of course is the frame rate and screen tearing (if any). Looking forward to reading a real comparison from one of the better comparison sites.

Ordered both as I want to see the differences for myself, I'll just trade in the one that I like least.

PS3 has slightly better shadows but there is no noticeable difference you will see while concentrating on playing the game.

Yea to me it does look like the palm tree leaves look more detailed and abundant on the 360 version...which is an odd thing...unless the wind or something is just blowing differently at those moments...but can't really tell. Everything else looks exactly the same...

Well...but then looking at the top down pier shot...the PS3 does seem to be a bit crisper and the shadows look a little nicer...meh...whatever...lol.. .getting it at midnight on PS3 just because I like my PS3 better than my 360 and my buddies are getting it on PS3 as well and want to play GTA Online together

The pictures themselves don't tell the whole story. The amount of pop in and the poor texture fill rate on the 360 makes the difference very noticeable. The PS3 version is fart superior. I'm glad Sony assisted R* with optimizing their use of the Cell.

After seeing al screenshots, it's abvious that one console handles some things better than the other, is undeniable the fact that 360 manages better some details like the detail in the palms, while the PS3 has better textures in places like the rooftops. Aside from that, the game is the same, and will probably run smooth in both consoles.

Now, if you're so convinced and worried about having better palms or rooftops... to each it's own. Just buy the version of the console you have and problem solved.

R* has done a really great job at achieving visual parity between X360 and PS3 in their last couple of games. i'm already getting the PS3 version, but i wonder what the performance differences are going to be? with PS3 being the lead platform, my guess is that the game might do better on PS3, but you never know...

At least they didnt make the differences (what little there are) noticable etween the two consoles , In my opinion i am very suprised as to what rockstar managed to squeez out of these two consoles even despite memory limitations it is pretty amazing how large and detailed the parts of the map are . Even though the map is three times the size of san andreas' map . It also improved on nearly everything wrong with gta iv such as the oat like driving , no jets , no parachutes and pressure based auto targeting and a pathetic melee system I am very pumped for this game and hopefully i can get it before friday ,September 20th

So they could have made it look as good as uncharted, but instead in your opinion made it not look quite as nice as the 360 version? That's a strange opinion... What is more likely is that the 360 version has been done fore several months and they've been optimizing for the Cell processor the last few months...

Anyone else notice how the X360 pics were taken from a slightly longer distance? I'm not really sure why they would do that on purpose. Hmmmm.... regardless, both version look almost identical.

Must just be a porting issue. It goes both ways confirmed. I'm thankful that R* made PS3 the lead platform.

This Game is a technical Marvel, stop pulling exclusives out of your A**** just to say This and that Looks better, even though those exclusives are corridor type Games, not fully realized worlds. Whatever System You get this Game, enjoy it and just play the Game, but as usual on N4G certain People rather type about Games then Play them. Luckily just another Day on i have my Copy.

Very similar but you can still see the PS3 version looks crisper and has better shadows.

Here's a tip, go to the TV menu setting -> picture -> contrast. George Lopez said it best, "It's the same sh*t".

They look the same. Try this comparison when the PC version is out.

The LOD issue on 360 is resolved by not installing the play disc to the HDD (but it can be installed to a flash drive without issue).

Tomorrow is the Face Off on DF. Based on past RAGE games my bet is on 360 taking it but by a much smaller margin than previous RAGE games.

before going brezerker on me look at the first 4 pics in first two you can see the woods and shadow looks better on 360 and on the other two the waves looks more detailed on 360

You can clearly see that some textures have more detail on them in the PS3 version. Top down shot of Ferris wheel, building on bottom left has more detail on PS3 and beach sand in last shot has more too. Interesting...

Seriously, if the only screenshot comparison pic was of a GIANT GTA V PENIS, Xbox fans would claim their version had more girth and PS fans would swear their version was longer. It's pathetic
