Steelix is the evolved form of Onix. Trainers have to trade the Pokemon with the 'Steel Coat' item to make him evolve. The same method is used to evolve Scyther into Scizor. ;)

Rock types should get some good Megalutions. They dont tend to receive much usage generally speaking.

But then they give some cool PKMN like Blaziken a Mega Evo...

One who really needs one is Farfetch'd.... and I don't mean change his leek into a sword, I mean make himself look awesome, like this:

I disagree with Mawile and NU poke's getting Mega Evolutions when they could simply have an evolved form. Mawile can still evolve, so can Absol, and Lucario.

Mega Evo should be for:

Starters: (If you're going to give it to 4 of them give it to all of them),

2 Legendaries per gen: (Mewtwo and Mew / Lugia and Ho-oh / Rayquaza and Deoxys / Arceus and Regigigas / Reshiram and Zekrom / X and Y)

Non-Legendary Mascots per gen: (Pikachu, Unown (spent all that time in Gold and Silver catching them thinking something good would happen), Flygon, Lucario (no getting around this Mega Evo), and Zoroark)

That's 36 Megas right there (inculding future X & Y Megas). There's little need for more and best of all they're consistent. Currently Mega evo's are all over the place. Simply giving a Pokemon an evolution and a better ability can fix the vast majority of NU Pokemon. Mega Evo's should be special.

The only other reasons to give a Mega evo is for a type change (Gyarados into Water / Dragon), fan favorites (Dragonite looking bad@$$), or balancing something overpowered (Slaking gets a new ability, but can't use any items, because Choice Band Slaking is death)
