German site PCGH.de covers games with the best textures (e.g. Max Payne 2 and Crysis) and old games that have been pimped texture-wise by the modding community like Oblivion, Quake 4 and Tomb Raider.
Hopefully, they expaned this series with the ugliest textures in games.

With The Elder Scrolls 6 still far into the future fans have been taking matters into their own hands with projects like Skyblivion.
Holger Frydrych has just released a cool VR Mod for the 2007 version of Crytek's first-person shooter, Crysis.
Playing it right now looks amazing! :D
so much fun, i hope they make a vr mod for crysis 2 / 3 too!
This is amazing. This is the direction VR should go in to boost adoption. Since I have beaten every Crysis except 1, this is now a good excuse to correct that problem.
If we're talking about console games, Uncharted wins this.
UT3, Uncharted, Gears of War, Heavenly Swords all of them had great textures:P and coming in JUNE the mother of all exclusive games MGS4 will have some amazing textures:D
Overall I'd say FF XII and GoW2. For only using color/alpha it's f*cking insane. Hand painted 128x128 and 256x256 maps ftw!
or w/e has extremely good textures, I would honestly put them on par or even better than crysis. too bad the game didn't look near as good, hopefully warhound comes a little closer...
