The forthcoming Unity game creation tools for Xbox One will resemble those for Xbox 360, Unity Technologies CEO David Helgason has told OXM, but that doesn't mean that developers won't be able to make use of the console's swankier capabilities.

GamesRadar:
There's been a definite sea change across the world of gaming when it comes to the prospect of virtual reality over the last six months or so. While debate once raged amongst gamers and developers alike regarding the potential future of strapping a pair of blacked out goggles to your face and wandering around the house stumbling into furniture, now there's a general acceptance that, like it or not, VR is going to happen. The long and short of it is, the industry has simply invested way too much in the tech behind it to let it fail.
VR's success is really dependant on the range of experiences that it will have to offer (in time). Be that gaming, music, cinema (premier), holiday, creative arts, education, NASA (probes), F1driving driving cam. Virtual shopping & retail order/buys, dating etc. Use your imagination & the sales will follow 😉

David Helgason also talks about the use of Enlighten in Unity.
It seems that utilizing DX12 from the start is what better suits its performance overall. Simple concept to understand.
I've never seen something like DX12 before where there are such polarizing opinions regarding it's use on console.
Of course it depends on the engine and its compliance with DX12. Also depends on the techniques the devs use.
They made a bigger fuss over dx10 or 9 and in many games dx9 was faster, lol.

Unity’s David Helgason explains his disappointment that the same companies continue to dominate mobile.
If I was a pie chart baker, a budget cruncher, or an analytics snake oil salesman I'd be breathing a sigh of relief that they haven't dropped. It's a sign that big sales and marketing budgets, which include these types of jobs, can provide stable success (and stable employment).
Creatively it's bleh. Who, outside of suit-land, really wants the old big publishing system dominating again? Keep this industry wild and shaken.
Good news indeed I wonder why gamers claim ps4 superior. And developers cosmetic ecstasy over the hardware lol. Word of the day Ecstasy lol
Sorry typos I'm on my phone, superiority has no game here, talent willingness and hunger to be the best will show who is who this Gen and both offer love for Indies in the end we all win.
Will there ever be an XBOX ONE or PS4 article, where someone doesn't compare the 2. For example this is a good/positive thing for Microsoft, yet people are going to immediately compare it to the PS4.
WHY!?!
How about, Congrats to the Indie Devs that Microsoft changed their Indie policy to make it easier and more profitable for you guys?
Both consoles will shine regardless! One will be stronger than the other so what. Show me the games and exclusives!!!
I wasn't really going to comment here but reading the first comment, I had to. Why did you even have to mention the PS4? Now I have to correct you with just about everything.
Why are you acting like because the Xbox One now supports Unity, it is better? Did you guys even watch Gamescon when Sony officially confirmed Unity on PS4 before (not that it really matters when they did)? Guess not..

All Playstation systems support Unity. This was announced on the Playstation blog way back in March, this includes the PS3, PS4 and even the PS Vita. It is also supported by Sony's cloud.

Not only that the Wii U even supports Unity.

I don't get why when the Xbox One gets something new now, you guys have to compare it to the PS4 like it is missing something. Your way of a nice excuse for you to have a reason in finally thinking the Xbox One is better since the hardware isn't? Just seems so insecure about your purchase is how it comes off.
Well I hate to break your little hearts but tons of systems even last gen's all support Unity even the Xbox 360 as well. So don't make yourself look anymore stupid than you already have.
Just consider this good news for the Xbox One and leave it at that will you. To me its really no surprise knowing that almost every current system to date basically has Unity support, its become one of those things you expect to be there. It would be more surprising to me if the Xbox One never received it.
