Are Annualized Games the Future?

By now most gamers are used to the annualized release of many triple A franchises such as Call of Duty, Madden, and Assassin’s Creed. Are these series ever in danger of becoming burned out?

please please no, it ruined one of my fav games, CoD

MW2 is the last AAA big time CoD game, ghosts looks good but nowhere near MW2 at its time

i love Call of duty gameplay more than BF but with all honesty if i want to be subjective, BF4 blow away ghosts out of the water, especially the last trailer

It ruined Assassins Creed for me. I fell in love with AC2, but after that the yearly releases did nothing but bore me.

Agreed. AC2 was stellar but the yearly releases have burned me out to the point where I haven't even considered buying the last two.

Nope, there are still plenty of developers that don't stick to that terrible formula. My avatar for example :D

oh no no I think with next gen more effort will be needed, that to me this gen is going to be more brutal, that i dont think we'll see that many rip off games, or that many lack luster multiplayers. people will just not care for your game if you dont take that time and that effort to create something enjoyable :p

I'm not entirely sure I agree with you. So far I haven't seen anything that indicates that next-gen will require more effort or be more brutal or that the consumers will be more thoughtful about what they purchase.

Will the first couple of years be a hunt for who makes that true next-gen game? Sure. But when some one strikes gold (as Activision did with CoD) I don't see any reason why the same industry copying wouldn't happen just because it's PS4 and X1 instead of PS3 and 360.
