[MWEB GameZone] Review Carmageddon for Android: Vehicular Mayhem

MWEB GameZone writer Zubayr Bhyat has written a review of Carmageddon for Android and it's pretty good. The issues don't get in the way of a good retro gaming experience. It's also bargain of the year.

Brilliant read! The mobile gaming market is going to surprise everyone with its quality and popularity. It's also so much cheaper than the other platforms. Mark my words, it's going to be bigger than everyone thinks

PandaMcBearface4656d ago

Rather interesting to see how well this whole portal thing worked. I remember GTA San Andreas and all those bugs :/

Choc_Salties4656d ago

After Zubayr told me that it existed, i downloaded the game, and have had hours of fun jamming this! So many fond memories playing this, absolutely LOVE IT!!

I'd have rated it higher though, but possibly thats the nostalgia talking...

plut0nash4656d ago

Ya, unfortunately had to rate it according to age :)

DesVader4656d ago

This is so cool to have a classic like this available on Android phones!!

plut0nash4656d ago

iOS too. Android seems to get releases much later though :(

Mmmm in my opinion THQ Nordic it's expanding too much too quick, you gotta be careful especially if your games turns out not exceptionally well like Darksiders 3. You gotta make money to survive after all.

LucasRuinedChildhood2738d ago

I doubt that Darksiders 3 cost THQ Nordic that much to make, especially considering they opted to barely market the game. I don't think they are going to have to sell an exceptional amount to cover their costs. While we have heard that it barely made a dent in the UK, you have to remember that Hitman 2 and SoulCalibur 6 (a game that seems to be selling well) bombed in the UK as well.

Hellblade's costs (under $10m) were covered by just 300,000 copies. Darksiders 3 is just too expensive to most people at $60. I think the game will be OK long-term but I could be wrong.

THQ Nordic's business model is to have a hold on the AA portion of the games industry. They may be expanding and funding a lot of projects, but most of these projects are relatively cheap or even dirt cheap compared to AAA games.

UltraNova2738d ago

Spot on. Its not stretching it to say that THQ has big plans on its market share position of all these aquisitions are anything to go by.

That said, although I love the Carmagedon series its a relic by todays standard and I can't see a way for this IP to get up to today's standards.

bluefox7552738d ago

Agreed. I think the DS3 reception would have been much better if it had a price tag to match it's budget. Nice to see devs still putting out AA games.

Donnie812738d ago

You played darksiders 3? Just curious because I have and you can tell it doesn’t have the budget of the first 2 but it’s far from a bad game

TheViolentGoat2738d ago

I'm quite interested to see where they take this. I loved the original games and although wasn't impressed with the last one released they could do a heck of a lot with this IP.

Double_O_Revan2738d ago

I STILL play the original port on my phone! I would really like to see what THQ can do.

TheViolentGoat2738d ago

Same here, I also have the collection via Steam and still fire it up from time to time.

Cajun Chicken2738d ago

This is quite interesting. Been years since a new Carmageddeon.

Skuletor2738d ago

There was one in 2016 called Carmageddon: Max Damage. Haven't played it myself though.
I still remember running over old people using walkers in the original though, lol.
