To those who dont own an Xbox 360 and only a PS3, no it won't matter because very few of them will purchase another console just for DLC. For Multiplatform owners, yes it will be a massive factor. For those who own neither consoles, the mass market, unlikely in my opinion. I think the majority even here now, who don't support Sony or the PS3 expect that platform to benefit more from this game than the 360, in terms of hardware sales and software ratio.

I don't really believe DLC will have a huge difference overall, but I do maybe see somewhat of a wide difference amongst the hardcore user who purchase a lot of content over Live or PSN.

Let's be honest how many people do you know that's beaten GTA including yourself? I feel like it's a minority that really plays through the game. I've haven't beaten one of them yet and you expect people to have more content that only the dedicated will buy?

i really don't see anybody buying a 360 because it has extra downloadable content for GTA 4. although i do see some one saying lets get it for the ps3 because MGS is coming out in june and the ps3 has blu-ray, in my mind those are way bigger deciding factor on buying a console than some downloadable content. and when the DLC comes out in autumn i don't see it selling any consoles really at all. so basically i think microsoft strategy on buying this exclusive DLC was shortsighted and wont make as big a difference as the people on the 360 side may of hoped.

the dlc is nice but its just not much of a significant factor. a casual gamer looking for the next system to jump to for the most part wont be interested in that, they'd say "thats nice but what other game releases are there around that same month?".

People seem to forget that GTA4 is the 1st GTA to be online. Not only is it online but it has 15 different modes. Everyone saying no one will be playing GTA in a few weeks is fooling their self. CoD4 been out 5 months and people still play that everyday for hours at a time Halo 3 been out 7 month and people play that just as much. Online play increasing how long games are played dramatically. Also achievements increase the number of people that will finish the game. Plus that fact that just cause people dont finish games doesnt stop them from buy the next one that comes out. How many people didnt finish GTA 3 but still went on to buy GTA VC and GTA SA and now are going to buy GTA 4 ? The same is true about DLC.

However I dont really see the causal gamer buy it just for the DLC. I think where MS is going to make most of its money is from new XBL users I think GTA 4 will cause a huge spike in their XBL user base

If you own a PS3 your GTA gaming ends with GTA4, till GTA5 comes out.

What about the fact that 75% of all people have not finished a GTA game. I have owned and played all GTA's and I have never finished any of them. I put like 60+ hours into Vice City and still had FAR to go.

So the question is.
Will people put the normal 200+ hours into this game and then say "Crap! I wish I had some DLC so I could play more. Forget MGS4 and all other games I just want more GTA!!!"

It might persuade multi console owners to pick it up for the 360 over the PS3 but people waiting to jump into this gen will most likely purchase the PS3 and GTA IV with it over the 360.

GTA is known as a Sony game. People purchase 360 units for Halo, Gears, Bioshock, Mass Effect, etc and so on. I don't think many are waiting for this to come out for them to go purchase a 360 unit just to play GTA IV and that this exclusive DLC will be the deciding factor in their decision making. I know a few gamers that already own a 360 but recently picked up PS3's because of GTA, GT5P and MGS4.

Personally I am not real big into DLC. I think the only DLC I have purchased this gen is the map packs for Gears of War. I passed on Omega Dawn and the map pack for COD4 even though I am a huge fan of both. I feel that if it's not included with the price of the original purchase I don't want it.

I am not a fan of being nickel and dimed this gen. By the time this DLC comes out I will have most likely since sold or traded in GTA IV anyway.

I'm picking the ps3 version if the rumours about the technical ps3/360 differences are true .

Well for ps3 console owner it won't matter, because they won't be buying a 360 just to play the DLC. Similarly the 360 owners will not be buying a ps3 for GTA4 as well. The multiconsole owners will go either way. Those who love XBOX Live and achievements will definitely get the 360 version while those who care less about it, they will probably get the ps3 version. Its about the potentially new console buyers that Sony and Microsoft targeting. These people who haven't bought a new console, they are majority of those who are coming from PS2. They probably don't even care exactly what achievements and xbox live is. I am still pretty sure that GTA4 as a game will sell more on 360, but it will help sell more PS3s then 360s.

I dont see DLC being a big deal with this game. GTA IV is soo freaking huge already and theres going to be so much to do. DLC isnt really anything special. It would be like buying a keg of beer and getting excited that it came with and extra 12 pack of beer. Then you get charged for drinking out of your own keg at your own party. The PC was the better version, it had extra content but I bet the 360 version sold twice as many and it was the inferior version....If you have both systems it depends on which system you prefer to play...If you don't have a nextgen system, would you rather have extra content 6 months later or MSG5 in 2 months follow by R2, K2, GT5, LBP...I guess since you are going to throw in cheap things like accomplishments then I guess you can throw in PSN is free and for multiplayer games works better than laglive..I guess you have options paid $50 to get accomplishments and be able to talk to people playing different games or play for free and only talk to people that are actually playing the same game....tough choice...Just like I hate when people talk on the phone when playing a game, I hate talking to someone if there not playing in the same game....$50 is alot of money that you don't get back...Do you get charge to send out emails? I've already explained my decision in a previous comment on this post, so any of you can click the pages to view it and respond if you wish. If there is anything that will get me very excited about GTA after I've played and finished GTA 4, it will be the next ACTUAL GTA GAME, not episodic DLC. Me personally, I'd be anticipating news and information about the next GTA title in the making rather than get my d*ck hard over some exclusive DLC. That's of course if you ask me.

Put it this way both versions of the game for PS3 and 360 will move units. But after seeing what Sony has planned w/ an exclusive bundle of this game and given the large almost unstoppable line up PS3 has this year I can only imagine how much more the PS3 will go in sales.
Considering that the PS3 has the superior version of this game it's clear Sony will win.

MS sees all the fans talking about it on the net and all that jazz, and figure that this is better plubicity than they could have ever paid for. so in that sense, yeah, it matters. but to me personally, no it doesn't. at the time i preordered gtaiv, i didn't have a ps3 or a 360. but i preodered it for the ps3. there were a lot of reasons, but mainly because i associate the gta series with playstation. and the fact that i swore up and down i would never buy a 360 (which i bought for my wife for valentines day and get's more play lately. damn you astro pop). but even if i had known about the dlc, i still wouldn't have gone with the 360 version. there is no way that it will be anything close to vice city or san andreas. they were'nt just "expansions", they were full blown games by themselves. i actually beat those two without ever playing gta3. and gt5:p...don't get me started. it's a complete enough racing game to stand alone. 33 cars and 10 or twelve tracks (i can't remember). for a driving simulator that realistic, what other games on the market can compare? any? so don't go bashing on gt5:p in a post about gtaiv. and who knows? the exclusive dlc for the 360 might be R*'s biggest joke ever. just think now...horse armor for nico. :) no one knows. it could be just as bad.

I'm sure it will sway a few people who want GTA4 and don't care which system they get it on. Well, that is if it's advertised for the 360 only.

But, I don't think it will make much of a difference.

There was a possibly fake test/preview comparing technical differences . Like i said i'll pick the technically superior version , if there is any truth in it .

Also yeah people bought Vice city and San andreas ... AKA full fledged stand alone games . Unless the famous dlc are the same in sizes , amount of contents , or even near half of it , we aint talking about the same damn thing .

LOL some of you guys are really going sidebars and grasping at every straws like comparison to full games...
Some of you guys would have a better argument here if they just flat out said that the currently superior install base of the 360 in USA might settle that ... dlc or not .
