Capcom working with Microsoft to improve Dead Rising 3 performance in time for launch

Capcom Vancouver is working with Microsoft to try and improve Dead Rising 3's performance in time for launch, senior producer Jason Leigh has assured VideoGamer.com.

Discussing the game's frame rate and performance with us earlier today, Leigh admitted that the team had "had many questions over the [game's] performance, which is understandable.

"This demo is actually several weeks old and we've made a lot of ground. We've got a little bit more ways to go before we release the game."

Well that's good. Framerate was looking rough.

s8anicslayer4651d ago

I have this game on pre order and I sure as hell hope it's not buggy come release. I am starving for a great zombie game since capcom can't come through with their RE franchise.

Perjoss4651d ago

Why do you have it on pre order, are you worried it might sell out? If you're not sure about something would it not make more sense to wait for a couple of reviews first?

admiralvic4650d ago

@ Perjoss

Logically if they have DR 3 preordered than they have / want a Xbox One. Sure waiting for a review might make sense down the road, but this is one of the few exclusively next gen titles that would justify / rationalize a purchase of a next gen console (I really hope someone isn't buying a PS4 / XB1 for next gen CoD / BF alone). So it would make sense to make sure you get both if you want them, over waiting for reviews and possibly have a XB1 with nothing awesome to do till the future.

s8anicslayer4650d ago

@perjoss

Because that's what I do, Not that I should have to explain why I do what I do but I will anyway! Because it gives me a sense of ownership and it reassures me that in case there is a manufacturing problem for the game or the game is in such high demand which usually happens for highly anticipated games that I will be guaranteed a copy of the game. That's why! Most often game retailers usually offer preorder incentives like exclusive content and such but I have yet to hear of any for DR3.

MestreRothN4G4650d ago (Edited 4650d ago )

It was really looking bad. But what is worse is the fact they weren't able to make it run even decently on that powerful machine specialized to run games.

Very very badly played, Capcom. How many processing power and RAM do you need, ffs?

Shadowsteal4650d ago

As much as they need. But that's not a problem right? Msoft says the cloud has unlimited powerz!

PFFT4650d ago

It did actually. The Screen tearing was a bit bad as well.

Shadowsteal4650d ago

The whole games looks rough.

And bland.

And colorless.

Looking at the color palette of Last of Us then looking at this dissapoints me.

ABeastNamedTariq4650d ago

I agree about the art style and what not. Everything has a very brown tint to it. Kind of boring to me.

Great news for future X1 owners, however, I wonder if this is more evidence that MS was forced to rush their console to meet the PS4 release date?

Convas4651d ago (Edited 4651d ago )

How is this any different from any other company saying they're working on improving the framerate of/polishing up their game, IE Driveclub or Killzone SF or damn near any game in production?

WrAiTh Sp3cTr34650d ago

"Great news for future X1 owners, however, I wonder if this is more evidence that MS was forced to rush their console to meet the PS4 release date?"

Where is the first bit of evidence? Besides, this is developers getting their heads wrapped around new tech, not the other way around. Leave the tech analysis to the pros and just stick to playing the games please.

christocolus4650d ago

So you can say same thing about drive club cos the dev also states they are trying to finalize it for launch...comments like these just show how ignorant some gamers are...must you post negative coments in xbox articles?

christocolus4647d ago

No dude..was actually replying jessupj, not you. i actually agreed with your comment.

logan_izer104651d ago

Duh? What are they gonna call it quits? "I think the demo we showed off is more than enough for the consumer"
Of course they're working to improve it before launch!

ABizzel14651d ago

I'm sure they're working to improve it before launch, but they only have 2 months left. Next-gen will be upon us before you know it. Exciting times.

bjmartynhak4651d ago

I'm not a 60-fps guy, but rock-solid 30fps should be standard.

Just cut some textures or cut some of zombies AI that are distant if they can't optimize everything in time

Shadowsteal4650d ago

Then what's next-gen about it? The graphics are already crap. Last of Us a ps3 game looks better and especially more colorful. But Dead Rising is forgiven because of the huge number of zombies, right? But then cut down the zombies, graphics are crap, but you have a smooth framerate and end up with a current-gen game. Enjoy.

testerg354650d ago (Edited 4650d ago )

So what's the excuse for Drive Club and KZ?

Shadowsteal4650d ago

@testerg35

They don't need excuses Killzone: Shadow fall looks fantastic 1080p 30fps Singleplayer, and 60fps Multiplayer. With tons of color.
http://www.youtube.com/watc...

And Drive Club is going to be 60fps too, and their recent trailer looks great. Great background details. Detailed lighting and shadows.
http://www.youtube.com/watc...

You don't see any PS4 games having to compromise to end up looking like a current gen game just to run a steady 30fps.

bjmartynhak4650d ago (Edited 4650d ago )

Well, I was just trying to be realistic, if they can't optimize everything to have those graphs in a decent framerate, then they should start making cuts.

starchild4650d ago

Color isn't a technical element, you idiot. It takes no more processing power to render rainbows and gum drops bursting with color than it does to render the grays and browns of a post-apocalyptic environment.

It's an art direction choice, nothing else.

Furthermore, you have your head up a dark part of your anatomy if you think The Last of Us has better graphics than Dead Rising 3. In technical terms, no way in hell. Dead Rising 3 has much more advanced graphics in most ways.

This really needs a re-release. Enjoyed all 4 games with 3 probably being my second favourite.

ocelot07276d ago

It once was. But the recent DR1 remake took that spot.

It's 2013! I'm on my Xbox One and streaming from my laptop to my chromecast! Life couldn't be better!

TheColbertinator276d ago

Now I can stream my Xbox One from my TV to my phone to my tablet while I'm inside my refrigerator.

monkey602276d ago

It's not even the best one 🤨

ocelot07276d ago

Surprised this didn't get a Series S/X boost. I believe it's still locked to 30fps. Then again so is the PC version until you go into the .ini file and change it.

MetroidFREAK21276d ago

Genuinely surprised this still hasn't been ported

What Happened To The Dead Rising Series?

Over the last week, Jake has been going back to the Dead Rising 2 Off The Record remaster and has been an absolute blast. When he was 15 he first got his Xbox 360 and Dead Rising with it, it was unlike any other experience. It made him wonder though, what happened to the Dead Rising series.

Interesting timing. This retrospective was released just a few days ago: https://youtu.be/Et-cKSrWuc...

Darksonic222111d ago

Ah no, I just felt like writing it as I started playing the game again and wanted to offer up my opinions 😁

InklingGirl2111d ago

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the title.

2110d ago
MadLad2111d ago

Complacency and new teams who didn't understand what made the series special.

Darksonic222111d ago

Seems like there was just a ton of infighting aswell and so many more issues. Honestly sadly Dead Rising 5 before it was cancelled sounded nothing like dead rising, nothing learnt from. Dr4 at all.

ColdSin2111d ago

DR4 should have not been made anyways. DR3 closed everything nicely.

darthv722111d ago

Check out the vid i posted above.

MadLad2111d ago

They're a solid channel. I always click on their vids, unless it's a series/game I simply have no interest in.

RamRod882111d ago

They took away the depth and charm of the game that made it fun and interesting, and made it into a generic zombie killing game.

DeadManMMX2111d ago

This was the series the got me to buy an Xbox 360. The first one was so good. It still had horror elements. As it went on it became kind of a parody. Never forget getting Zombie Genecider achievement and then restarting the game to get the Mega Buster. That thing was monstrous against enemies.

Gamerking822111d ago

But you never know it might be RISING again someday .

moriarty18892111d ago

haha yes it may....good one.
