IGN - Ryan and Destin talk about Microsoft's press event at Gamescom and discuss their impressions about games like Killer Instinct, Fable and Kinect Sports.

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Xbox boss Asha Sharma has discussed how component shortages will impact the company's plans for Project Helix.
This kind of proves this is an after thought product, most products like this are in r&d 5 years before they start mass producing. So they typically have the cost of components and things worked out long before assembly starts.
This is an assumption still, but I wouldn’t be surprised if project helix is similar to Scalebound, perfect dark and sod3. They had an idea but no actual execution other than concept stage. Being impacted by the ram shortage likely would also put this device 3-4 years out.
I’m not even sure MS has that endurance with Xbox yet
Helix is going to be stupidly expensive
Instead of leaning into smarter upscaling techniques they're brute forcing hardware that will cost them dearly and it remains to be seen if it's genuinely going to provide a meaningful differential
I know in the oc.doace people like to brag about not using frame gen or dlss to get to high on a game but for the majority of players they happily use those technologies without a second thought
That's going to be ps6 vs Helix
It's called systematic inflationary. Yes we get it Microsoft, keep raising in the name ofall kinds of stuffs
Honestly if there was thing I learned from this generation is that new consoles arnt day one anymore.
I can wait 1-3 years.

In an exclusive interview with Game File, new(ish) Xbox boss Asha Sharma and Xbox chief content officer Matt Booty explain their vision for Microsoft’s gaming division
A good start would be to release games to go with the console. My Xbox Series X has gathered dust virtually from launch. My advice would be to ditch a next console and release games on PC, PlayStation and Switch. Another idea would be a hybrid console based on Xbox Series X tech and go the same route as Nintendo. Another idea would be to pull out of gaming altogether. Plenty of options there.
Ryse son of rome :-)
Ryse looks like a quality game just no appealing to me the gameplay looks kinda blase to me but this is before I actually play it. I'm sure it's a cool game but nothing I haven't seen before with next gen visuals. glad the kinect finally got good coverage. It's gotten too much flak considering its a camera and a motion control peripheral As mostly a PS gamer I think it's of great tech and practical just not a selling point. Over all everything looks cool def wanna get my hands on some of the stuff this con didn't help waver me to get an X1 or steer me away though. All you Xgamers out there have faith in your platform of choice. I been with PS through thick and thin and still had a good time X1's strong points are still yet to come after a lil bit more damage control and the launch.
The competition is stiff MS DONT SLIP UP SONY IS WAITING.
You have to admit, Microsoft has the games to back the system up out of the gate.
Question is, will they pull a 360 and slow support down the road? I really hope not. I always remember what the original Xbox was and hope that they go back to their roots and remember they started purely for gaming, and they were good at it.
Don't get me wrong, I am already aware they are pushing things other than games. I am just hoping to see a major emphasis placed on games as well.
A+++ for me. Now with 22 games on release day, Lots of choices for gamers comes November. IMO, up there with Dramcast as the best launch lineup in history. I just raised my 5 Day one purchase to 9 now. Fable Legends and The Fifa announcement were great surprises..And I especially like how Kinect Sports Rival turns out. Return of waverace!!! That water physic is killer! The scanning to create your own avatar and the motion capture of Project Spark provide a look of one of the benefit of Kinect included in every Sku. I think it was a good presentation.
Battlefield 4 (DICE, Electronic Arts)
Crimson Dragon (Grounding/Land Ho!, Microsoft Studios)
Dead Rising 3 (Capcom Vancouver, Microsoft)
Forza Motorsport 5 (Turn 10 Studios, Microsoft Studios)
Killer Instinct (Double Helix, Microsoft Studios)
NBA 2K14 (Visual Concepts, 2K Sports)
Ryse: Son of Rome (Crytek, Microsoft Studios)
Watch Dogs (Ubisoft Montreal, Ubisoft)
Zoo Tycoon (Frontier Developments Ltd., Microsoft Studios)
In my opinion the only game that interests me in the least from this showing is Dead Rising 3.
