Touch Arcade - Let me come right out and say it - it's games like DOT Space Hero [$0.99] that are the reason I love iOS gaming. As you know, the beauty of the App Store is that practically anyone can release a game. Sure, while 99.9% of the titles released are nothing more than boiled cabbage covered in burnt hair, every once and a while, there is a true (cue incredibly overused descriptive noun) gem.
A decent little arcade game with a few minor flaws, DOT Space Hero compensates for its weaknesses with charm and good looks
Pocket Gamer - That sense of aesthetic pleasure you get from a really good-looking game can often be enough to compensate for any minor flaws it has. Or encourage you to persevere when ordinarily you'd be prepared to give up.
DOT Space Hero's lovely art style - which reminded me most of the charming children's picture books by celebrated illustrator and author Oliver Jeffers - offsets my frustrations with the difficult later stages.
