Should DICE’s Star Wars Battlefront Include a Campaign?

OnlySP: So, EA has obtained rights to the Star Wars franchise and we know DICE is working on a brand new installment in the Battlefront franchise, which has been requested since a long time ago. But should it include a campaign mode?

Absolutely, YES.

I loved the Campaigns of the other titles, although II's was a little convoluted. I'd like to see a definitive SP campaign and story if possible.

to be honest, i think it should continue that way, with more story. Then it should be easier for everyone to get into the multiplayer.

oooor, they could try to make an epic singleplayer campaign. With dramatic fights vs At-Ats, i wouldn't care if it was scripted, because the star wars universe is just so epic.

Na. It should follow the MAG format. A huge Multiplayer game with everyone around the world joining the Rebels or Empire. And there's a constant battle for different locations around the Star wars universe. Just make it huge!

This is being asked because the writer is comparing to a Battlefield game with a campaign mode and how it's almost irrelevant to the game, the primary mode being MP.

However, Battlefield campaign has never really had a compelling story line either. It's some mish-mashed covert ops evil dude team banter no-point story. Nobody cares as long as its fun and the main reason for getting it is the MP.

Star Wars is a totally different game. It has a deep story, a universe of a story. This is the chance to have a kick ass new chapter in the Star Wars saga as a campaign and having a great MP, too. EA would be stupid not to do this but this is EA, even if DICE provides all the talent.

I geuss you haven't played badcompany 1, bad company 2 and Battlefield2: Modern Combat single player modes. Those we're awesome.

I don't care if it has a story. It likely will have one though. No doubt about that. Battlefield 4 should showcase what kinda story we can expect from Battlefront. Good or bad or just mediocre. As long as the gameplay is solid then I am sold.

Yes of course it needs a campaign. How about two campaigns? One campaign your a rebel fighting the empire. In a second campaign your a imperial. I'm sick & tired of developers getting lazy & not putting alot of effort into single player. With the power of the new consoles doesn't it make sense to utilize that power? Meaning you don't cut corners anymore. MP is fun but so is a campaign or single player story.

depends on what kind or lore DICE is using to tell the story. if its recycled trilogy lore then ill pass but if its their own original star wars story then sure! even if some star wars games flop, i enjoy an original star wars story none the less.

DICE isn't the team behind this game. Its DICE LA *DangerClose*(EA LA)

Actually, it is DICE. They merged the Danger Close team with members of DICE and created an all new studio at DICE LA.

Yea, but it's not JUST the guys from Danger Close. They're hiring talent from all over the place according to your link, so I don't think there's much to worry about. Neither MOH were that bad of games. The story was pretty shallow in Warfighter, but at least they attempted it.

The company was temporarily shutdown, people were laid off, and the studio downsized.

They didn't merge with DICE.

Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight

which were all lack luster titles. They have had the studio name changed 4 times. And have produced some pretty bad titles since the studio opened in 95 as dreamworks Interactive.

Also, as a owner of warfighter, that game was terrible. and the only reason people thought the recent "medal of honor" title was any good was because of the edgy story, the mechanics were just bad.

Proof please. But even if it is don't matter that game wasn't that bad they also made the first MOH reboot and it was great. Just because they made one poor game people want to hate them smh.

NO!!!!! Focus on what made this franchise so great the Multiplayer,
If people want a single player campaign then there's other Star Wars games out there for them.

I demand single player modes like in Battlfront 2, otherwise I won't be buying it! I don't mind multiplayer, but it better not be the ONLY mode.....damn multiplayer only games, I hate them all!!!

Imagine the battle of Hoth and other historical Star Wars epics on next gen. A man will be thoroughly disappointed if a game based on cinema's biggest franchise doesn't have a cinematic campaign.
