Half Life 3 announcement possible

If we look back a few months ago, there was an email leak that stated the release of Left 4 Dead 3, Source 2 and the infamous Half-Life 3. It seems that half of it was proven true, so we can expect for Half-Life 3 to be announced or even released someday.

I think it's possible that they are using L4D3 as a cover up for Half Life 3.

Instead of the same old "Valve going to a conference - people get hyped it's going to be HL3 - only for them to do something different" routine, they are trying to trick people with all these leaks to make it out like they will announce something just not HL3, this way people won't automatically point to Half Life and will settle on another game Valve will apparently show off, then when the reveal comes people will be more surprised and shocked because they re getting an HL3 announcement when they thought they weren't getting it

I mean look at all these leaks latley, I'm not saying Valve are "leak proof" but they wouldn't slip up like this over and over. I like to think that they are trying to trick us, because where is the fun in them saying "Oh were going to a gaming expo" and people, like always point to HL3, it wouldn't be as surprising. Even if they did an ARG you would know there's a big chance of it being HL3 so I think in my opinion this is the smartest way of doing it.

Yeah, it never seemed like Valve's style to hype like every one else. I like to think they would have a little fun with the announcement.

The realist in me says its just L4D3, which, to me, is kind of a bummer. But the fanboy in wants this to be HL3 reveal.

I also think a new "Orange Box" is slight possibility.

If it is L4D3 I hope they are prepared for a crap load of backlash. To be honest though they deserve it, it's becoming beyond a joke now. It means if HL3 isn't the next reveal we won't get HL3 news untill L4D3 is finished and that could be at the end of 2014 or early 2015, then you have the problem of when it comes out, add a year onto that so basically 2016. 10 years after HL2 Episode 2. It's better to get it out for next year with the 10th Anniversary of HL2.

If it's a new Orange Box though then that would be amazing. Valve are the only company to do something like this since they make so much money off Steam alone. Plus this time with L4D3 and Team Fortress 3 they can update them the same as the PC versions on the PS4 and hopefully Xbox One.

Most of us (especially pc gamers) have been looking for a hl3 announcement for so long it's become sickening. Maybe just MAYBE they'll announce it soon to coincide with the new consoles. Half-Life's home is obviously pc but you know damn well they want to profit off of the larger console market.

I still have hope...

They should definitely do another Orange Box

* Call it Orange Box 2 or pick another color or something.

* 5 games - What 5 games though ?

mjamesw4687d ago

I was just going to add something like this. Maybe they could do a Black Box 2 or a Trilogy Box and have L4D3, Episode 3, Portal 3, and HL3 or some combination of the four.

GMoneyChuck4687d ago

I would actually like to see a new Orange Box with a new IP in it. Sure, have the Portal 3, L4D3 and HL3, but also something new would be quite exciting.

Half Life 3 announcement possible? Well NO DOG POOH cause anything is Possible!

If you MORONS knew ANYTHING, ANYTHING at ALL Gabe Newell has ALREADY let it slip.

"Yes we are working on a NEW Source Engine, we are just WAITING on A GAME to come along and utilize it"

----Gabe Newell

What friggin Game better than HL3 to show off your New Engine seeing how Half Life has ALWAYS showed off new Engine tech from Valve!

SIRHC134688d ago

I refuse to hold my breath again. You won't fool me again, Valve!

Imonaboat14688d ago

This game wont ever come out

Kaizin5144688d ago

An announcement has been "possible" for the last two years, why is this year any different? Just stop hyping it until Valve is ready, even if that means another 3 years (though I really hope not).

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing39d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9239d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit39d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing39d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9239d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
