It’s time for another edition of Retro Recap! Today’s special is another groundbreaking platformer from the folks over at Ubisoft. It’s Rayman! Released in 1995 for a number of platforms including the PlayStation One and the eponymous Atari Jaguar, Rayman became an instant hit amongst the masses. By hanging, sprinting, punching and gliding his was through various odd looking terrain, Rayman not only captured the cloaked assailant (deceitfully named Mr. Dark), but also our attention for hours on end.

The original entry in Ubisoft's platformer series, Rayman, is set to receive an HD remaster, according to the series creator.
Big Rayman fan, but hopefully they add some cool new things for those of us that already beat this on the PSX/PC/Saturn.
I think it was the level with the musical instruments where everything was "slippery" that had I been an adult, instead of a kid playing on his older brother's Saturn, I probably would have picked up smoking.
Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan are “working together on the future of Rayman,” brand producer Loic Gounon said in a video message celebrating the series’ 30th anniversary. Rayman first launched for the original PlayStation on September 1, 1995.

A former Ubisoft artist claims that a Rayman remake, once titled Rayman: Forever and The Story of Rayman, was scrapped in 2021.
Reminds me never finished Rayman 2: The Great Escape on the 3DS. Not sure why cause it's fun and creative.
