First step in improving sound quality...

Put higher quality sound files in the damn game. And make the effort to record with better equipment and with a wider variety of subjects / objects.

Was it confirmed if both this and PS4 will support 7.1 sound for games this time and not just movies?

n4rc4721d ago

Almost positive for x1 at least..

Read they can now pass 7.1 wirelessly to the controller..

I'm sure Sony wasn't stupid enough to miss that chance.

ps3 supports 7.1, so i'm sure ps4 and xbone will also decode the sound

This is actually one of new console aspects I'm looking forward too. Sound design... Forza 5 is shaping up to be greatest racer ever. I can't believe we are getting this title at launch...November couldn't come fast enough...

Best example of this generation that concerns audio/sound design -

- NaughtyDog with The Last of Us actually building a sound mode specifically made for the game that can be downloaded through the P.E.M. for all Sony Pulse Elite owners.

Now that's commitment to your fans.

I just recently moved and haven't had a chance to hook up my sound system yet. Usually that would be my preferred method for immersion. But I also have the Pulse Elites and I used the sound mode for The Last Of Us. It sounded so good on that too. Also Bioshock Infinite has one and GTA V will be getting one as well. Would be nice to see more games support it.

On topic I am really interested to see how gaming changes on all fronts with the next gen. Sound design has certainly come a long ways from previous gens and for games like Dead Space it has really helped the game become something more. I am also interested to see how Saints Row IV will play with the dynamic music system they put into it.
