At first glance, Lums may seem like just another generic physics-based puzzle game. However, this title actually delivers much more as it provides a lot of depth with regards to the game mechanics. Also, the control scheme actually provides you with much better freedom to manipulate your “ammo” around, which gives players much more freedom to solve each level. AppAdvice: I’m rather loving this game so far, as it is beautiful, haunting, and the gameplay is based on skill rather than luck. The controls will take a bit of time getting used to, as you pretty much need to keep your finger on the screen at all times, otherwise you will mess up. It also seems to require much more movement than needed to fully maneuver them, but this is not a big issue.

Lums [$0.99 / $1.99 (HD)] by Hyperbolic Magnetism takes a different route, incorporating familiar elements of the genre with objectives that turn it completely on its head. It succeeds masterfully too, making it one of the better physics-based puzzlers to hit the App Store in some time.
