Take-Two CEO hints at Red Dead Redemption 2

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has dropped the greatest hint yet that a sequel to 2010 open-world hit Red Dead Redemption could be in the works, reports VideoGamer.com

"Outside of our business you can look at James Bond, for example. And it's been our goal not just to preserve and grow the Grand Theft Auto franchise, but also to build other franchises that we think can be permanent, whether that's the Red Dead franchise or the Borderlands franchise or the BioShock franchise or others, Civilization, for example."

Take my money. Take it now and use it to fund this game.

RDR was my game of the gen.

snipab8t4672d ago

RDR truly was a masterpiece. Hopefully GTA V will match the atmosphere and stunning environments present in RDR.

JunioRS1014671d ago

Amen to that.

I still play it on 360 at least once a week, Free Roam just gets more and more fun because it takes foreverrrr to rank up, and there's just something awesome about unlocking new gear and stuff that you'll get to spawn with forever after unlocking it.

This is amazing news......i'm hoping it's next gen!

Red Dead Redemption was great, but the story on Red Dead Revolver was way more interesting, I would really like to see a Red Dead Revolver 2 with the gameplay quality and scale of Red Dead Redemption.

But, quite frankly, I don't think there will be either RDR2, More like Red Dead R______ (new story).

Moncole4671d ago

Red Dead Redemption was a sequel to Red Dead Revolver.

BigPappaPump4671d ago

Moncole, it wasn't a direct sequel but a spiritual successor.

JunioRS1014671d ago

Is the title really going to be "Red Dead Redemption 2" ..?

I was thinking:

Red Dead Revolver
Red Dead Redemption
Red Dead Re________

JunioRS1014671d ago

That could work!

Repeater
Revenge
Revolution
Revival

The possibilities are endless...

Dunpeal4671d ago

i thought someone already mentioned Red Dead Revenge, but maybe that was just rumored

JKeyz904663d ago

it should be Revenge since his son lived and he didn't maybe his son could get revenge....that would be awesome

Cam9774671d ago (Edited 4671d ago )

Copy off the film Pale Rider & call it Red Dead Religion. That would be brilliant! I know Rockstar could improve upon it and add personal moral conflicts within the protag's conscience.

More like people don't play these type of games on their phone normally and don't try them out. Not like the places where people do play these games haven't crushed those numbers easily.

How many people actually played more than an hour of the game or came close to finishing it on mobile is the real question. If people aren't playing the games to a point that is purposeful, then why try when a subscription that is behind a streaming service isn't a sign of success but just curiosity.

What if Netflix becomes ‘the Netflix of gaming?!’

Alek83121d ago

I downloaded it because I already have a Netflix sub.
I am not going to buy it for $40 or whatever it costs on Google Play.

I tried it out and will be sticking to the PC version, but it's not bad.

Having said that, this is the issues I see vs the PC version:
1. Greatly reduced texture resolution.
2. Massive downgrade ALL lighting quality (this includes water, shadows, etc).
3. Stutter and heat. Prolonged play leads to both.
On the plus side, we have:
4. This thing is like 6GB vs the 12 on Steam.

Great way to try the game, but not the best way to play it.

darthv72123d ago

Perhaps Netflix will make a RDR series now that ST is done with.

Lionsguard122d ago

A Netflix version of RDR?... Oh boy... I can't wait... /s

TheColbertinator122d ago

They should build a production that includes members behind the True Grit remake and Hell on Wheels from AMC. Both were perfect for wild west vibes.

gold_drake121d ago

but i doubt people ACTUALLY played it on smartphone vs tried it out.

Another free update...good to know but I don't own a series X

Petebloodyonion155d ago

I’m not sure what the exact issue is. I had no trouble getting the free update—you basically get the new game for free if you have the 360 version in your digital library. Maybe the problem is related to owning or not owning the Undead DLC expansion.

Hypertension140155d ago (Edited 155d ago )

Yea I think thats what it is. I also own the game but not the expansion, and im unable to download the update.
