IGN:The Ouya is a promising idea, but the current iteration is marred by design missteps and a lack of compelling content.

From systems that could keep your beer cool, to oddities trying to get in on the popularity of VHS and laserdisc, you’ve got some very, very weird video game consoles out there.
I had the LaserActive... it was a nice collectors piece but not very practical. Especially when it came to needing recapping. I think i paid all of about $50 for the floor model from an incredible Universe back in the day. I ended up selling it many years later for $300 at the time due to it needing a new laser and the aforementioned recapping.
An honorable mention not on the list would be the VM Labs Nuon. It basically looked like any regular DVD player but it had ports on it for controllers to play specific games. one of which is still exclusive to it with Tempest 3000. It also offered nuon enhanced DVD movies with extra content not accessible by regular players.

Virtual Boy, Sega Nomad, Ouya and the other troubled game systems that nobody bought.
How has this article missed out Sega's Dreamcast and Nintendo's Wii U, two consoles that were actually superb devices in their own right, but were seen as failed due to lacklustre sales at the time of release?
Wonder how long before Stadia appears on the list surprised the Ngage is not on that list
Talk about a blast to the past.......I remember trying the virtual boy at Toy R Us and it was cool but I did feel slightly disoriented afterwards......good article.

The Ouya, a failed Android gaming console from early in this generation, is getting a second lease on life thanks to Internet archivists and some new software.
That's pretty cool they were able to bring it back. It sucks when something online only gets killed.
I got mine when it first launched, however it wasn't good for anything other than retro emulation. I couldn't sell the thing fast enough. Managed to get almost all my money back selling it on eBay.
I guess the Stadia launch is bringing back memories of other failed consoles/services.
Yeah, I dunno, cool idea in concept, not so exciting in execution.
I just see the Ouya as an emulator, idk, it's just me.
Even though I have an Android Avatar for my self here, i would like to give my opinion on the system because i Have one.
for what he stated about the Game pad some may feel like he does about it, and you can hook up both the PS3 and Xbox360 game pad or even a logitech USB or the MOGA to the OUYA. the touch pad on the front makes scrolling and selecting thing's on screen pretty easy. the side loading function like using Astro file Manager+ Drop Box or Google drive easy as pie to install your games and app's from the android market over to the OUYA, and some app's may not work not due to the OUYA's hardware, but mainly a software issue of the Apk being mainly made for Smaller screen devices and will not or do not work because of the development on the app being made for smartphones or Tablets and not TV resolution screen sizes.
The Tegra 3 chip that is in the OUYA is the highest Set Tegra 3 even better than the one in the Asus Transformer Pro. for $100.00 it is quite worth it, and the Games for development with the Unity 3D game engine will be quite good later in life cycle.
Already both my GTA III and Vice city both work flawlessly on the OUYA , xbmc media center also works great along with net flicks and Pandora and Youtube, crackle Amazon app store and MP3.Many APK's from android will run you have to test them because there is so d@mn many to try..lol
the OUYA only has one USB port which along with no App's to SD support just yet really for me is the only draw back , and both of which can be updated to be fixed. for one USB hub's work just fine , and Move app's to SD IE: a USB thumb drive or external Hard drive is on its way. though 8GB of internal storage is a lot right now you can go through that pretty quick. just with GTA: Vice city ANV. edition its 1.9 GB alone. with App's to SD than you can move that to SD so as to keep Larger software off of the internal Storage of the system.
Ravensword is one of the games you can play right now and for a grind RPG its not that bad for a $10.00 Game, you still got to try it for free off the bat.
My experience with the OUYA along with posting this very post right from the OUYA's web Browser. is not really a bad system at All with more games being added that may not be the high end graphic's, but quite a number of them are fun. ESP since i can load many of my games and App's from the Google play store already on the system, now if they will run or not that is alltogether a whole other story, sofar im having good luck .
my experience with the OUYA is a
8.2/10
there is quite a number of games in the works for the OUYA like shadowrun for instance, with multi-player and award system being done. Online Multi-player and other functions are being added to the OUYA core system soon.
That was a little low. It should have received an 8.
also you can do this with the OUYA
