Gerstmann: Gamespot fired me

Just in case there was any doubt left in anyone's mind that Gamespot ed ex-chief Jeff Gerstmann came to any mutual understanding about his position at Gamespot last year, consider it put to rest. In the words of the man himself, he was sacked.

Kane and Lynch sux and so does Gamespot.

He's now a better man for it.

Wicked Sick6660d ago

Once in time Gamespot didnt suck, though Gerstmann has always sucked.

Just look at his reviews, they all suck!

This guy is becoming a promising attention whore...

He is just not cool, unlike Jaffe.

In fact I'm sure most of us don't care at this point what happened. Jeff isn't exactly someone I can sympathize with.

calm down both of you. As stated by the N4G Guidelines even if you dont like the news it still has to be published.

THere's always some one that is interested in this sort of stuff.

Thank you Anubis, I love it when we come across people that understand the mission of N4G.

no one needs you here either...

As for the story... as long as Jeff can't go into details of why he was fired, there's no need to bring this back up. we know he was fired. We don't have a clear idea as to why... we just know Kane and Lynch had something to do with it.

I don't agree with that. I WISH I could agree with that. But buying habits and customer opinions prove otherwise

We've seen developers in the AAA space try new things and ideas. More often than not, the customers aren't willing to give things a chance, or not enough people buy into the project for it to grow.

Creativity works better in the indie space because the budgets, pressures, and expectations aren't the same.

Scissorman75d ago

it's a nice idea and it worked during the PS2/PS3-era when AAA didn't cost hundreds of millions of dollars. smaller budgets and shorter development time left room for more creativity and more risk. a game didn't need to sell 4 million+ copies to break even. things are different now.

This is the guy who bragged about crunching his staff and having them work through the night. Crunch culture has lost more talent and done more damage to the industry than any other factor. Screw him.
