ps3 keeps getting better and better

HighDefinition6628d ago

He`s been like Santa Claus lately.

Utalkin2me6628d ago

For the people that bought the system at launch is just now finally getting what they paid for. But to bad you can get a ps3 for 400 bucks now.

tweaker6628d ago (Edited 6628d ago )

Never doubted my purchase back then and won't now. All these updates make my PS3 feel brand new all over again. :) It was worth every penny and the 10 hours standing in line, in cold weather.

MrWonderful6628d ago

@ utalkin2me

yeah can buy one for $400 but we have the best sku of them all. 100% backward compatibility

sonarus6628d ago

agreed original 60GB model is the best. Not $200 better but i am happy i got it, don't think i could have settled for even the 80GB

LinuxGuru6627d ago

@ utalkin

Shut up.

I feel that my insanely large purchase of the PS3 was fully justified the moment I walked out the doors of the electronics retailer.

yanikins1116627d ago

Doesnt feel new anymore.... its got big ar$e scratches on it cos i take it to so many friends places. and you know what? It STILL works like the day I got it. If you ignore the significantly enhanced firmware.

Genesis56627d ago (Edited 6627d ago )

Yeah I got the 60 gig in Feb 07. It was in Canada and the province I,m in had 15% sales tax on top of it. It cost me $797. Then when I hooked it up to my new HDTV the first game I played was Oblivion. I jusy went WOW this is so worth it.

Infernus6627d ago (Edited 6627d ago )

I got my 60Gb cheap in June of last year (2 months after European release). Was £600 I got mine for £280 brand new with 3 games :D

This news is good, it certainly doesn't make me regret buying a 60gig early, in fact it makes me wonder what's next for the PS3? It's just always getting better and better!

I'm not too fussed about them pushing back Home. Just release it when it's ready, don't push out a bug ridden thing just to attract sales.

Torch6627d ago (Edited 6627d ago )

You said it...I'll cry if my first-batch, feature-rich 60-gigger konks out on me.

Fortunately, there's not even remotely any sign of that happening yet...even with the week-long Folding@home marathons having occurred over the past year-and-a-half.

And in case you're wondering:

Yes, I CAN INDEED smel-ell-ell-elll...what the PS3 is cookin'. ;)

Bolts6627d ago

Everytime I pop in a Bluray movie I justified my purchase, that alone is freaking amazing nevermind the gaming aspect. In terms of value alone the PS3 totally rocks. I can't even recall the last time I purchased and piece of electronic with this much entertainment value.

in the future playstation will own xbox

heyheyhey6628d ago

i thought you were an xbox fan?

saw the light huh

Varsarus6627d ago

It probably will. Curious whether the next xbox will have directx 10 even though OpenGL just kicks the living crap out of it and major companies except them have become part of Khronos Group which means they support OpenGL hahahahahaha.

TrevorPhillips6628d ago

to be honest i am an xbox fan but i got to admit that ps3 has better hardware and 360 has better software so software doesn't really matter to me hardware does

Hockey116627d ago

You and breakfast are probably the most unbiased people on this site. Keep it up.

leon766627d ago

Yes, of course PS3 has the better hardware, no one doubts it, except xbots!! But don't worry man, PS3 will have better software, and this article is the proof of that... the great exclusives will come to PS3, and it already started!!

xhi46628d ago

Stringer fella, you know, the president of Sony lol He said they were creating a movie/music online store for the playstation and such that would rival if not defeat itunes.

Thats a pretty big statement, wonder if itll come to fruition.

cLiCK_sLiCK96627d ago

How about bringing out those PSN Cards to rival iTunes???

INehalemEXI6627d ago

Bushido Blade 1-2 , Einhander, FF7, Marvel Vs Capcom 2, Colony Wars, and Parasite Eve 1-2 on PSN would be nice. Definitley ready for home . The Agency I want to see up there soon too.

LightningPS36628d ago (Edited 6628d ago )

he seems to almost have a passion for gaming. He acts like he's a fan himself.

It's about time, Sony has been needed someone like that. For a long time it seemed like Sony was too corporate like, lacking the passion for games. I mean what kind of idiot let GTA go? They should of paid millions.

Instead is was Microsoft who did.

legendkilla6627d ago

it seems like he is a no BS kinda guy! thats what i like about him.. ps he looks like he would fight you at a bar

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle31d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

Final Fantasy VIII is great and you are always the first to defend it in the comments

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

DarXyde37d ago

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

Soy38d ago

And then MK1 killed it again.

DivineHand12537d ago (Edited 37d ago )

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

PlayStation legend Shuhei Yoshida says Jim Ryan fired him because he didn't listen to him

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.

Relientk7739d ago

Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.

Cacabunga39d ago

It should be free highway for him now.. but Sony are too stupid to see this, especially that moron Hulst

S2Killinit39d ago (Edited 39d ago )

Wtf why all that anger. PlayStation is dominating on every level. Besides I think there is a little more to hiring a CEO than just who is available. Its not like its a athlete your team wants to buy.

neutralgamer199238d ago

S2Killinit

live service failures, chasing trends, closing studios. yes dominating

Cacabunga38d ago

Sony is Dominating because competition is not existing. Compared to previous gens this is the poorest in terms of software offerings.

Last gen we got Uncharted 4 Lost Legacy and TLOU2 from ND alone.

This is so far a remasters gen, with no competition to lift up the quality

1nsomniac38d ago (Edited 38d ago )

..."PlayStation is dominating on every level"....

...Really???

PlayStation are soon heading into a new generation in the not to distant future. They currently have the worst customer satisfaction they've ever sustained as a company. The company is heading for a huge crash while at the same time they'll need to be planning how they are going to try and win back that favour and the build up to their new releases.

Yes financially they're winning but they're going to have to ride out this complete public corporate disaster. No one has faith in the company or the product anymore. They've damaged their public image so much this generation. Greed can kill anyone.

medman38d ago

Hulst is a disaster......

blacktiger38d ago

He would've done the same thing and fire Jim Ryan and Shuhei would be the villain. Why?
Because Elite creates the narrative and distraction for gamers, users and citizens.

Outside_ofthe_Box39d ago

More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.

robtion38d ago

Yep. Yoshida was responsible for bringing one of the best games of this generation to playstation (Stellar Blade). He is an actual gamer and is in touch with what gamers want (creative, fun games, not GaaS and agenda pushing). He also seems like a genuinely nice guy if you watch some interviews. Of course they got rid of him.

darthv7239d ago

Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.

Agent7539d ago

Microflop. After Windows XP and Xbox 360, it all went floppy.

S2Killinit39d ago

Floppy 😆
No pun intended

badz14939d ago

Yoshida for President! Jim Ryan was and always be a hack! Sony should get Shu back

Lightning7739d ago

All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
