Gamnesia: Exclusive Interview With Cloudberry Kingdom Developer

Gamnesia: "Q). For our readers who don’t know much about Cloudberry Kingdom, how would you describe the game, and what’s the core reason for your potential audience to buy it?

Cloudberry Kingdom is a 2d platformer with infinite, randomly generated levels. Imagine Mario and Tetris had a lovechild. The child doesn’t look like a mix between Mario and Tetris, that would be weird. It’s more how the game plays, every time you beat a level, the next level is slightly harder. There are a few pretty good reasons to pick up a copy of Cloudberry Kingdom. Randomly generated levels means that you’ll never have to play the same level twice, which is really nice. Our A.I. generates levels custom-built to fit your skill level, so you’ll never be bored! (Unless you just plain hate platformers no matter what). We have a Sandbox mode in the game where you can create your own levels and share them with your friends. There are online leaderboards to compare your scores with others around the world. Our main character is voiced by Kevin Sorbo. You can get $1000 for being the first person to beat the Story Mode. We have a number of other reasons, but this paragraph is already pretty lengthy…I’ll stop there."

We've Played The First PS3-Emulated Game For PS5

Richard Leadbetter - "The first PlayStation 3-emulated game running on PlayStation 5 is here, and it's not a title you might have expected. Cloudberry Kingdom - originally developed by Pwnee Studios in 2013 - is a procedurally generated platform game that launched for PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Wii U. Out now in Asia courtesy of RedoApps, and set for imminent release in the Western market, the package ships with native PS4 and PS4 versions, along with a bonus: the original PS3 release is included, running under emulation on PS5."

Wait… are we not making a big deal out of this? If ps5 can get ps3 emulation working and they already have been getting ps1, psp and select ps2 titles. If they are able to give us access to all of our purchased ps3 titles like… the library immediately becomes insane for most of us.

PS5 is EASILY capable of emulating PS3. Sony just doesn't want to do it. They'd rather sell you full price upscaled "remasters".

Christopher75d ago

Depends on the game, to be honest. There's a ton of work by the community to make specific games work and it's not that easy nor does it have the greatest results. I'm not saying Sony couldn't do about half of the PS3 games without too much work, but there's a ton of work to get it to 100%.

Michiel198975d ago

that is not the problem....the problem is that ps3 uses cell architecture which apparently is a pain to emulate

I would pay for a scaled remastered WARHAAAWK or SSSSSSSTARHAWWK hell I would pay full price for any of them.

Thats where youre a bit off. Follow PS3 emulation on PC.... more intense games take much more intense power to smoothly emulate. Yes they CAN emulate PS3 but comparing that game to something like Uncharted or Motorstorm or MGS4 is not apples to apples in terms of the power needed.

My year and a half old relatively inexpensive laptop can emulate nearly any PS3 game at 1440p/60. The only reason the PS5 doesn't have PS3 emulation is money and lawfair.

A title that simply does not use the SPU’s id bet.

10 Ridiculously Difficult Xbox Achievements

Jacob writes: "Every achievement hunter knows that there is nothing more satisfying than finally unlocking that one achievement that has bothered you for hours. Occasionally though, you’ll happen to stumble across an Xbox achievement where you’ll have to bring your A-game. These are the achievements that separate the boys from the men. They require focus, extreme patience and tons of practice and are definitely not for the faint hearted. This list details ten of them."
