The arrival of the next generation in console systems is hugely exciting for Digital Foundry. Sony and Microsoft are effectively pressing a giant button that resets everything gamers know about consoles.

The Legend of Dragoon is held in very high regard by Sony stalwarts, a JRPG developed in-house for the original PlayStation. While it never achieved the same success as other games of that era, it's retained a cult status, and you still see calls from fans today for Sony to return to the land of Endiness. Now, fans can say that Mark Cerny, lead system architect for the PS4 and PS5, ranks among their number.
There's definitely parts of it that haven't aged well, for sure. It would be interesting to see how a remake could fix the things that need it while somehow maintaining the game's charm.
A fantastic JRPG that should return. I wish Sony would just remake this already. I mean Bluepoint Studios makes fantastic remakes... there you go Sony.
Jrpg age well it’s not like replaying driver.
And its flaws like to much random encounter and slow combat can easily be fixed
It's still one of those hidden gem JRPG's I love the game. I wish Sony would do something with the title whether an HD remaster or give it the remake treatment like Square did with FF7. I also wish Sony would do something with the Wild Arms franchise and another JRPG franchise I love as well.
Story and charecters were good, cinematics were top notch and gameplay was fun for its time but world and exploration left much to be desired especially after playing games that came out before it like FF and Xenogears . It's a shame we never got another in-house made Sony rpg , kinda surprised they never tried to acquire Level-5 for all they rpgs they've made for them

PS5 Pro upgrades this year? Future consoles, PCs and the cloud?
CNet's Sean Booker learned all about Project Amethyst and what it means for the future of gaming hardware -- PlayStaton and beyond.
Given that this will continue to be the premiere console for the next 3 years or so, it's good PS is continuing to invest in it. PS6 is still a long way away
Mark Cerny is also hyping PS6 also. Talking about pushing the boundaries of graphics. He also abandoning PSSR in the pro which can only mean no new PSSR iteration.
Man we've heard it allll before. "Pushing the limits of graphics" it's all over exaggerated PR that we've heard over and over. He even exaggerated the Pro. Graphics will look more the same with better locked in frames maybe higher res. PS5 cross gen holding it back probably more than ever imo. Now we're hearing more promises and hype from these consoles. MS even said the same boring hype PR with "cutting edge" tech in the new xbox.
Can't stress this enough and I really think this gen is the worse one easily.
The RDNA 4 upscaler is the first result of AMD/Sony's Project Amethyst collaboration.
They are basically working together to co-devlop the cnns and strategies for game graphics. So the research benefits borth products and they will share similar capabilities. So its not exactly FS4 that comes to PS5 but rather the models that then used by PSSR. Their long term goal together is to develop hardware that maximizes the execution of ML. This longterm goal will impact things like the PS6 but doesn't sound like it is focused on acceleration graphics only ML. This is big for AMD and will make them more competetive in the AI landscape.
This is a proper interview instead of the bits and pieces sites keep re-using for hits.
It's a long but informative interview and you guys should read the whole thing.
Mark Cerny story time. Enjoy

Cerny is a true genius !
"Digital Foundry: Going back to GPU compute for a moment, I wouldn't call it a rumour - it was more than that. There was a recommendation - a suggestion? - for 14 cores [GPU compute units] allocated to visuals and four to GPU compute...
Mark Cerny: That is bad leaks and not any sort form of formal evangelisation. The point is the hardware is intentionally not 100 per cent round. It has a little bit more ALU in it than if you were thinking strictly about graphics. As a result of that you have an opportunity, almost like an incentivisation, to use that ALU for GPGPU."
Concidering Sony already confirmed 18 unified CU's in the GPU, we can officially call CU's dedicated to compute debunked. When Cerny talks about extra ALU however, THIS is what he's talking about:

cool info and all, but man ppl are getting way too hung up on all the stuff coming out of Cerny's mouth
i pretty much understood from the reveal and E3 that the ps4 is gonna be awesome. I'm not gonna get swept up in the tech rhetoric for what will probably prove to be a slight, if any, graphical advantage over the xbone
